Title: when anime and real life colide
Post by: superjaz on April 19, 2005, 08:49:09 am
(this has a punch just read)i was trying to figure out how to say Karl (my younger bothers name) in katakana (japanese) and i tell him i think its pronucned ka ru and he dosen' like that because on Kenchin, Karu  is a girl as in miss Karu then he says a line from an episode from tales of the meji
kenchin: "i think you've gained a little weight miss karu" (which i didn't hear him say)
miss karu: no i haven't i'm a healthy young Lady!"
i start laughing uncontrolubly because our family  last name is Lady it just really funny that your bother can say he's a healthy young lady and be telling the truth

I find it amusing that he could put his name as "Lady Karu".   although...the girl from Kenshin is Kaoru....a slight difference(the o changes the sound slightly)....still amusing though.

Post by: Paru on April 19, 2005, 07:07:04 pm
my real legal name is Paul, but i go by Paru almost everywhere.  typically the l is replaced with r and well paur just didn't suit me so i picked paru. which ironically  besides the Pa and Ru japanese meaning is used in a japanese rpg I love.

It just means you extend the "A" sound from the "ka."  You only see it in katakana though.  It would be like me writting it カアル

Magic is handled  with 6 symbols and 4 sets the first set(shown in the picture)  is power. The english ports of the other games call it "Pal" but for this game it is PaRu.
