Hyde of L'Arc~en~Ciel has joined with KAZ of Oblivion Dust to form the band VAMPS. They're a rock group that's been touring extensively in Japan and have a huge following for a band so young.

They will be performing in Seattle in July -- July 20th, to be precise, at The Hawthorne Theatre.

A lot of Seattle fans are going, and we hope you will too!! It's going to be a great show, and a tiny venue -- only 500 people. It's an amazing chance to see a really great group like this so close. And it's in Portland! If enough people support the show and go, more things like this will keep happening in Portland and the Northwest.

Like I said over there, if he were coming here for a solo performance or with L'Arc, I would totally go, but I don't like VAMPS >.<

While I understand your viewpoint, I'd still encourage you to go to support HYDE and endeavors like this. Bands are hesitant about the Northwest because they think don't have an audience here, so the more we support things like this, the more they'll come!
And you never know, the music might be something like more live than you do on recorded CD.

Of course I support trying to get more Japanese artists and bands to perform in our area, but I wish there was a different way I could do it. I'm not going to pay $30 to go see a band for a couple hours whose music I don't like just to hope the audience turnout surprises them enough to promote coming here again.

Hi all
I'm actually the Official Street Team Leader for the VAMPS Portland show. I'm happy to see that the Kumoricon group is doing the ticket giveaway contest and that there are a bunch of people here that are coming to the show. It's going to be seriously awesome and I can't wait to see you all there!
I really, *really* want the Portland show to do well! If the VAMPS show does well, other j-rock bands will see us as a profitable (or at least fun!!) city and want to come here too. And if it bombs and no one comes... well, things don't look so good for us. And I know that the VAMPS guys are really excited about this tour, and they want to see packed venues so they can make each show something really special for us all.
We've got some flyers placed and hanging up, and some online ads, and we may put an ad in the Willamette Week or something too. But I came here to ask a couple of favors from the Kumoricon forum...
First, if everyone could please make sure that all their friends that might be interested in the concert actually KNOW about the concert, that would be awesome. A lot of HYDE/Laruku fans are a little out of the loop and don't even know VAMPS exists, much less that they're coming to Portland. :-/
And second - brainstorm and tell me where else we should be advertising, hanging flyers, whatever. If you can think of another group online that I should post to, or a store where I should place some flyers, or anything at all that will help, please send me a message or a reply! (Oh and if anyone particularly on the east side wants to help me place flyers, I have a ton...) Thank you so much in advance!

one place you should hit is Uwajimaya in beaverton i talked to the manager of the book store a week ago and told her about it they might post fliers

Yeah I have flyers in the lobby at Uwajimaya and on the little table in front of Kinokuniya. I was thinking of asking them if we could hang a flyer or poster in the window there.

Ugh I know! I'm going to both Seattle and Portland. For the Portland show, I'll be wearing my VAMPS Street Team Leader shirt, but for the Seattle show I'm just one of the crowd and I have *no clue* what to wear. Something comfortable and not too warm...

Where in Seattle was the concert at Jaz? Kahlan and I were up there a couple weeks ago for a concert as well, and it was definitely a massive crowd/line for that too.

the line went around 3 sides of the building, and the way it was set up was quite nice, it had kinda like 2 tiers that seprated the bar from the dance floor but it wasnt a full extra floor like the crystal ball room, so it made it easyer to go between dancing and sitting at a table
there werent a ton of tables chairs, but chris and i got super lucky there was a little table with no chairs next to a security gard and i asked him if it was okay to sit there and , and he was like yeah , and chris grabed our chairs and we had the best veiw, and since it was right next to the floor, i could get down on the dance floor for a bit then go back to the table with a great veiw so freakin close to the band,
i just wish i could of danced a bit more, but on friday i went to ea side with leashy and a particlarly violent wave (yes we were swiming) knocked me on my butt and some how made both my leg pull charly horses at the same time, it was kinda scary

it was awesome they did some of the faith album and they did their version of "lucy in the sky with diamonds" which is super awesome

The concert was awesome! I wish it had been at a different venue tho as I'm not fond of the hawthorne theater. But Hyde and kaz were adorable! And VAMPS was great. I've been looking all over town for a cd but cant find one. Anyone have any ideas??

Yup, the punch cards are nice but only valid on electronic media, if I remember right. I don't buy much cd's/dvd's there, so it doesn't help me much, but it is still nice.

they used to expire after a year and were only good on cd's but they revamped them, which is most awesome cuz now they dont expire

not to be one to revive a dead thread, But today i was watching a gackt concert and one of the guys in the Gackt job ( GacktJob is Gackt's live support band) looked really framiler and I swear I'd seen him before so I looked it up on wik and it was from the vamps concert, it was Ju-ken!!!
