anyone coming from sakuracon thats going to kumoricon? gotta love anime conventions ^^ is there gonna be any dating games there like at the sakuracon?

anyone? yes, there are. myself for example.
dating games? I"m pretty sure they'll will be. I could be mistaken, but I think kumori was first in having them...or just I just never noticed them before then.

Just from hearing on this forum, a lot of people are. Some of the staff even went to SakuraCon.
We had a dating game last year and it seemed pretty popular. I'm betting there will be one this year too.

The dating game last year at Kumoricon was awesome, no one wanted it to stop, but they had to when they were grabbing random people from other parts of the con ^_^
I went to this years Sakuracon, as well as last years, and I'm planning on going to Kumoricon again this year, barring some financial crisis :P I was the battle-outfit Sango with the giant, shiny boomerang at the previous cons, and I also went as Kotoko from Chobits last Kumoricon and Sakuracon.

i went to sakura con, and im probably gonna go as itachi and maybe someone from bleach or perhaps ranma for kumoricon

The dating game last year at Kumoricon was awesome, no one wanted it to stop, but they had to when they were grabbing random people from other parts of the con ^_^
I thought they had to stop because they couldn't find anyone else to grab for it or people didn't want to miss the last bit of the karaoke contest. At least they ended it with the Bakazoku doing it (I think they were the last one).

Hee hee, thanks ^_^ The boomerang is usually what reminds most people of me, it's kinda big and noticeable.... And I tend to acidentally bonk people with it ^.^;;

I was the person who cosplayed as Seta which, sadly, caused people to think I was a doctor. With the other gathering that went on at the hotel, I wonder if some people really did think I was a doctor. @_@

did they "peace bond" the props at Sakuracon or is that only at Kumoricon (a.k.a. the zip ties)

They're even more paranoid about peace bonding stuff at Sakuracon than they are at Kumoricon, it's a pretty standard con practice.

Really? I thought at the Kumoricon last year they wouldn't even let swords be carried around (actual swords, not props). I know one of the merchants complained about it because I guess it was a pain to get permission to sell them in the hotel.

Seta from Love Hina but with the fake cigarette. (taped rolled-up paper). There's a good chance that was me then ^_^. I wore a lab coat and had black underneath.

Someone was selling katana swords in the dealers' room and I think people couldn't walk around with them. They had to take them to their hotel room.
I can kinda understand since I can only imagine a bunch of kids running around with swords in their hands swinging them around randomly. Imagine "Bat Night" at a baseball game.

the characters aren't very distinct in Love Hina. since its likely one will think a Love Hina cosplayer isn't cosplaying, few people do them. Still, its cool find someone who did it....even if no one realized who you were X_X.

The only people who did recognize my costume were the other three people who were doing Love Hina cosplay and my friends. I debated about going as Keitaro to the Con but realized he had no distinct costume/clothes people would recognize.

^^ yeah ^^ i was also thinking of taking his personality at the con as well, but that might get dangerous ^^

And we even -hope- to not have it run against Karaoke again! ^______^;;;
Also, no, sadly, we did not invent the Anime Dating Game. I think the general format was prettymuch ganked from what COO (Custodians of Otakudom) have been doing at Sakura Con for years, and I don't even know if they were the first to convert such an event for the anime fandom, though they may well have been...
But, anyway, come! Come in cosplay, even! It's lots of fun!

And hooray for the divider. Wasn't the divider last year one of those paper boards used for presentations? (I'm guessing they're called something but I don't know what.)

yeah this year is me and my friends 1st year to kumoricon. going to sakuracon is our tradition and now kumoricon with be tradition as well.
