OOAH! ;D Every Sunday you said? When are you guys holding an actual dance? I accidentally went to a 4 n 8'ers dance in Hillsborro back in November...sadly one of the last ones in that hall. But I woke my skills back up! I might stop by for a bit. From 3 to what though, 5?
Square dancing is in my blood, I don't go as often anymore but when I go I still keep the spirit alive. If I practice I might even get back into calling again.
-
Yes every Sunday, until we hold the graduation! Our dances are 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. Yep 4 n 8' ers went bye-bye sadly. Lessons go until 4:30 and Round Dance starts at 5....
SO true!
-
I'm actually gonna start sq dancing with my mother...It's at the same time so I wonder if it's the same one...
And if it is, I guess I'll see you sunday!
-
Here's what's funny, should I come in cosplay or square dance attire?
-
@ nekovamp13 - Maybe... did you go last week...
@ Jason - Sqaure Dance... wait for the Halloween Dance
-
Alright then my cosplay will be...a square dance veteran. Though I might come to learn how to Round Dance finally.
-
I wasn't there last week. But I'm going this sunday.
And what kind of shoes should I wear?
-
@ Jason - LOL... have fun...by the way K.C. is our SQ caller and teacher and Bev is still the cuer....
@ nekovamp13 - wear comfy shoes... flat and the slide on a wood floor. NO Black bottom shoes! I will be looking for you!
-
Yeah, I talked with my mother, bout it. Would you like a pic of myself, so you know who you'll be looking for?
...
Even if you don't care, here's one anyway ^_^

And I'll be learning the guy's part.
I'm very excited!!!
-
Okey! I will see you tomorrow!
-
Coolio!
*is excited!*
-
I will try to remember to have my hair in PigTails
-
lol
That would help, but I'll probably reconize your face!
-
Ok! See you at 3!
-
God, this was so much fun!
Just wondering, do you own a skirt that has flames on it?
-
LOL! I am glad you like it!
Yes I do... I have not wore it in a while though!
-
You are her!!!
I went to a Jambori last year, and I remember you now! I was just sitting on the side, drawing, while my mom was out dancing.
Also, wondering where you live? For possible rides to/from the lessons. My mom is gonna try and join this one. The biggest problem is the cost. Don't have enough to do 10 every week.
-
I wish I could have made it today. When does Toe Draggers actually dance? I forgot. Even more, how did it go?
-
@ nekovamp - I think I remember that a little! I live in Tigard on Bull Mountain
@ Jason - Sorry.... We dance every 1st and 3rd fridays..... The lessons were smaller then last week though
-
Okay. *is clueless of where that actually is...*
My mom is making me learn the guy's part. Beacause they get more dance time (usually more girls than guys) and less spinning! (I can't handle it...)
I might ask to dance with you so you can help me!
-
Look it up on a Map..... it is hard to say where
That is fine with me... I am learning guys part sometimes
-
And now I wish it were sunday again...TT.TT
Gah!!!!!!!!! I can't remember you and your bro's names!!!!!!!!!!! I hate having a horrible memory!!!!!!!!! And can I get you phone number? Since you have mine.
-
Well once everyone thinks they're ready, would someone like to pull a meetup together? Except the cosplayers would have to have their characters wear western attire. Or is that more of a Halloween thing?
-
@ NekoVamp- LOL
Amanda and Jonny... I sent you a text but I think my cell is on the first post
@ Jason - Oh that would be fun! But we would need more people learning Square Dance
-
I'll have to see what I'm doing next Sunday and stop by at the lessons.
-
I can't text...
But thanks!
Missed you today TT.TT
And we really do need to have a meet up. We could have people learning, and those who already know can have a turn as well. It's sad that not many people want to do it.
-
@neko - Oh... i see
Sorry... Jonny had All State Choir...
It would be awesome...
-
He's in choir?! Sweet!
So, I'm now a man of square dancing! I actually get the men's part better than the women's.
-
Well you could be a good stand in for a square with one less guy then.
Oh! And there are some moves where you end up temporarily partnered girl with girl and guy with guy.
And at some events there are fun badges that you can earn by dancing with crazy conditions. Like a balloon between your legs, lemon in your mouth trying to mess the caller up, your partner is a broomstick, you're blindfolded, even areas like dancing in a swimming pool, or on roller skates...anything you can think of they might have a badge for. ^_^ *dies from so much knowledge...9 lives left*
-
@ Neko - Yep Yep!
Super .... I will not be at Lessons again it is MidWinter
@ Jason - lol oh and it is MIDWINTER time! YEAH I am happy!
-
*smack-head* Oh yeah! If I don't make it to mid-winter there's always next time or...isn't there a mid-summer too?
-
*confused*
Care to explain?
-
Ya know, square dancing is the official state dance of Washington.
-
Wash: Really?!?!? That's cool! Do you do it yourself?
It's sad. I mention that I started doing square dancing to my friends and they just stare...TT.TT Why is the world so cruel???
-
@ Jason - There is a Summer Festival
@ Neko - It is when all the Square Dancers of Oregon come together and we dress and have fun!
@ Wash - It is also Oregon's Dance
-
So yeah, it belongs to "southern" Washington and "northern" Oregon, and thanks for the reminder.
But yeah, think of mid-winter as Oregon's square dance con. And compared to other conventions including kumoricon, one of the most physically involved cons. I wish I had the endurance to dance more when the national convention came to Portland. There you meet dancers from around the world. One year they even had it at Disneyland.
As you can see, I have so much, probably too much to talk about when it comes to square dancing. :D
-
I AM HOME!
Well all of Oregon... Well this year it is in Astoria....
So is Summer Fes.! Hey Jason you got to come to Summer Fes next year 2010.... the Rogers are Chairman and I am helping with something. The National is down in Long Beach, Cal this year.... Nationals are always fun...
Me too! Square Dancing is my second live!
-
Oh cool! I'd love to go sometime (once I actually learn it better)
God, my feet hurt...I had SD and then went rollorskating with my youth group...Ow...
-
I am not going to Oregon's Summer Festival this year .... I am going to Washington's
LOL I am sorry... actually not really I have been dancing all weekend
-
True. But at least you were probably wearing comfortable shoes...Rollorskates are murderers to feet >.<*
-
first of all, yeah it does belong to both states. I have another group that has members in Washington who joke around and call Oregon "southern" Washington, and so we joke back and call Washington "northern" Oregon.
:)
Second, Long Beach I'll keep in mind. And who might suspect the convention could have a surfing theme?
-
@neko - True but it was on the was floor
@Jason - Yep Yep! Oh I know we and they have fun with that!
Ok! No idea, we still have not filled out the form
-
Are new people still able to come? I want to invite my girlfriend, but I don't want to ask if she couldn't come anyway...And I would teach her the moves that we've already done.
-
Only the first three weeks... The class has been moving fast.... and you missed last week.... You can bring her and have her watch
-
Okay. If she just watch, would she still have to pay?
-
Nope! But if she got up and tried yes she would
-
Okay! I'll see if she can come! Though, it may not be 'til next week.
-
Ok!
-
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Been really missin' you guys.
-
Sorry I forgot!
-
GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
So....You comin' today???!?!?!?!?!?!?
-
Well...It was good to see you there. Sadly, I felt really sick and that's why we left TT.TT
I blame this flu bug that's been going around the schools...I REALLY hope I don't actually get it...
