I am excited about this season, even though the Seahawks played poorly (due largely to the massive injury count). So, here's how I see things ending...
- AFC East
Jets win with 11-5 (3)
Patriots are wild with 11-5 (6) (Jets win tiebreaker #2 Division record)
- AFC North
Steelers win with 12-4 (2)
- AFC South
Titans win with 13-3 (1)
Colts are wild with 12-4 (5)
- AFC West
Broncos win with 9-7 (4)
- NFC East
Giants win with 13-3 (1)
Cowboys are wild with 11-5 (5) (Cowboys win wild card tiebreaker #1 head-to-head, week 8 )
- NFC North
Vikings win with 10-6 (3) (Vikings win tiebreaker #3 Common games record over Bears)
- NFC South
Panthers win with 12-4 (2)
Buccaneers are wild with 11-5 (6)
NFC West
Cardinals win with 9-7
Wild Card Weekend
Jets def. Patriots, Colts def. Broncos
Buccaneers def. Vikings, Cardinals def. Cowboys
Division Weekend
Steelers def. Jets, Titans def. Colts
Panthers def. Cardinals, Giants def. Buccaneers
Conference Weekend
Steelers win AFC Title 20-13 over Titans
Giants win NFC Title 38-34 over Panthers
Giants win Super Bowl 43 vs. Steelers 24-19
-
I dunno what any of that means... But good luck with whatever that was. :D
-
No no no no no no no no no Giants will not repeat
1. The NFC west sucks. The cardinals will not beat the cowboys ( even though tony romo is on the cowboys)
2. I think the Patriots will win (but I know the jests maybe will win)
3. The winer will be the Steelers or the Titans
-
I will agree that the NFC West isn't that great. Outside of it, Arizona (if my prediction is correct) will be 3-7. However, I'm betting on two things; one, the Cowboys have been choking in the playoffs as of late, & I think the same will happen, two, with Arizona coming off of an easy win @ home vs. Seattle, they'll have momentum along with homefield advantage.
As for the Pats, I'd love to see them do it, bu I doubt it'll happen.
If the Steelers represent the AFC, New York will have the upper hand. However, if Tennessee makes it, then I'll agree with you, Titans all the way.
-
It is a battle of what worse The NFC west or The Cowboys in The Playoff
-
absolutely
i can see where washougalotaku is coming from though i dont agree with him on it if it even came out like this i think the score would be more like 42 - 17 dallas
-
In the cards' game right? If the cowboys are your super-bowl selection that is ummmmmmmmmm... ya :D :D
-
oh yeah sorry about that
yeah i meant against the cards
i think its gonna be either tennessee or new york jets against new york giants or carolina
-
I am with you there but instead of the jets I would put the Steelers in.
Taking sports on an anime forum who would of thunk it. ;D
-
i think it makes just as much sense as star trek or star wars myself
-
Well either way, neither Dallas or Arizona will be making it to the SB.
I will also agree that Pittsburgh would beat the Jets, simply because their defense is better than New York's defense.
The Jets need to beef up in that department if they're gonna have any chance against the Steel Curtain.
-
yup Pitt is a big and strong team
-
Maybe this year they'll actually earn a title...
-
Ya I remember the seahawks vs the refs game
side note I updated the favorites question. I saw I forgot to put a question
-
Okay then. I'll change my reply so it fits.
-
well this has been a fun week for football
- carolina and new york in ot
- denver losing and san diego winning means next week the two teams will be playing each other for the afc west
- seattle beat the jets
- tennessee beat pittsburgh
next week will be awesome
-
I dinna get ta see any of it ta day. :'( :'( :'(
Waiting for the Bowl game the 23rd this week. Should be a really good one.
-
You talking about college, Jay?
-
yes. The Poinsettia Bowl. Boise State and TCU. Most sports book people are saying this game will be one of the better bowl games this season. Almost as good as Oregon Oklahoma State the next week in the same stadium.
-
OKay. Well, whomever you're rooting for, put me in your cheers too.
I'll update my predictions once this week's MNF game is over.
-
I can't understand that I am not ga-ga over pro football right now. I guess I just haven't been able to watch any games worth watching. We keep getting the crumby game of the week down here. And now since KVAL wanted to jack the price to Dish network, and they didn't blink, I don't even get CBS anymore. I think they should pro-rate downwards my local channels fee, no? That or get Portland channels. At least then I would get to see snow on the tele, instead of rain, rain, more rain.
Any bets on if the Lions trade down from the number one pick? They need half a team, and shouldn't waste dollars on only a couple of players. You can see where that has gotten them. Maybe they should talk to Kevin Pritchard. lol
-
I could see Detroit doing that this year.
-
Aren't the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets! now eliminated from playoff contention as they lost to the Chicken Hawks? Or are they still not mathematically eliminated, but need a whole lotta help from about every other team in the conference?
-
From what I understand, they are still contenders to make the playoffs, but their chances at winning the division has pretty much evaporated. I could take a more thorough look at the numbers though...
-
Okay, here's how it looks...
If the Jets defeat the Dolphins AND the Patriots lose to the Bills, then the Jets will win the division based off of head-to-ead rules.
If the Jets win AND the Patriots win, then the division goes to New England; New York's only chance at making it to the playoffs would be if Baltimore losses to Jacksonville; (this will seed the Jets @ #6).
-
I don't think the Ravens are gonna lose to Jacksonville. But...
If Green Bay wins tonight, Dallas is in? If Chicago, they aren't?
Whooda thunkit, Carolina and Atlanta are both in the playoffs, clinched no less.
And... I can't believe I have ever seen the AFC west so mediocre (at best).
Houston, we have parity.
-
If Green Bay wins, all that this will mean is that Chicago will not be in the playoffs. Currently, Dallas & Tampa Bay are tied for the 6th seed.
If Chicago wins, then this means that they have a good chance at clinching their division, or at least the second wild card.
-
Okay, now that this week is over, here is my updated predictions chart.
- AFC East
Patriots clinch division with win over Bills --> 11-5 (3)
Jets defeat Dolphins --> 10-6
- AFC North
**Steelers defeat Browns --> 12-4 (2)
Ravens clinch wild-card with win over Jaguars --> 11-5 (6)
- AFC South
*Colts defeat **Titans --> 12-4 (5), 13-3 (1)
- AFC West
Chargers clinch division with win over Broncos --> 8-8 (4)
- NFC East

*Falcons defeat Rams --> 11-5 (5)
Buccaneers defeat Raiders --> 10-6 - Fail to clinch due to loss against Cowboys in Week 8
- NFC West
**Cardinals defeat Seahawks --> 9-7 (4)
Wild-card week
Ravens def. Patriots, Colts def. Chargers
Cowboys def. Bears, Falcons def. Cardinals
Division week
Titans def. Ravens, Colts def. Steelers

Conference week
Titans win AFC title against the Colts 38-35, possibly in OT
Panthers win NFC title against the Giants 27-21
Super Bowl 43
Titans win 31-27 over the Panthers
-
You really think it is going to go back and forth between the Titans and the Colts? hmmm, dunno.
Mostly I am glad I just watch the games, and not try to pick out a fantasy team, or beat Vegas. I guess it will remain so until Portland gets a team. I should live so long, eh?
-
Okay, now that this week is over, here is my updated predictions chart.
- AFC East
Patriots clinch division with win over Bills --> 11-5 (3)
Jets defeat Dolphins --> 10-6
- AFC North
**Steelers defeat Browns --> 12-4 (2)
Ravens clinch wild-card with win over Jaguars --> 11-5 (6)
- AFC South
*Colts defeat **Titans --> 12-4 (5), 13-3 (1)
- AFC West
Chargers clinch division with win over Broncos --> 8-8 (4)
- NFC East
**Giants defeat Vikings --> 13-3 (1)

- NFC North

- NFC South

*Falcons defeat Rams --> 11-5 (5)
Buccaneers defeat Raiders --> 10-6 - Fail to clinch due to loss against Cowboys in Week 8
- NFC West
**Cardinals defeat Seahawks --> 9-7 (4)
Wild-card week
Ravens def. Patriots, Colts def. Chargers
Cowboys def. Bears, Falcons def. Cardinals
Division week
Titans def. Ravens, Colts def. Steelers
Giants def. Cowboys, Panthers def. Falcons
Conference week
Titans win AFC title against the Colts 38-35, possibly in OT
Panthers win NFC title against the Giants 27-21
Super Bowl 43
Titans win 31-27 over the Panthers
that sounds good I like it
The only thing I disagree with is Ravens def. Patriots (the Patriots are doing good now)
-
I kninda wonder about that too. THe Ravens have found their offense this year. But... has N.E. gotten too old on defense yet? Will Haloti Ngata, and the rest of the Baltimore defense sack the Cassel? WIll Randy Moss play every play? or even most of them?
-
Honestly, that one is kind of a gut feeling. For some reason, I don't feel that New England has what it takes to beat Baltimore, at least not yet.
-
Okay, the season is over, now it's time for the REAL playoff picture!
Wild-card Weekend
AFC
#6 Baltimore Ravens @ #3 Miami Dolphins - Miami wins 27-21
#5 Indianapolis Colts @ #4 San Diego Chargers - Indianapolis wins 38-27
NFC
#6 Philadelphia Eagles @ #3 Minnesota Vikings - Minnesota wins 17-10
#5 Atlanta Falcons @ #4 Arizona Cardinals - Atlanta wins 24-9
Division Weekend
AFC
Colts @ #1 Tennessee Titans - Tennessee wins 38-35, possibly in OT
Dolphins @ #2 Pittsburgh Steelers - Miami wins 24-17
NFC

Conference Weekend
AFC

NFC
Panthers @ Giants - Carolina wins 31-27
Super Bowl
Titans def. Panthers 30-21
-
Are the Ducks and Beavs gonna win?
-
here is what i think
dolphins over ravens
colts over chargers
eagles over vikings
falcons over cardinals
colts over titans
dolphins over steelers even if rothlisburger is there
giants over eagles
panthers over falcons
dolphins over colts
giants over panthers
dolphins over giants
-
@ jaybug - Don't know; not my field.
@ Sporty_Otaku - I could see Miami going that far; talk about a Cinderella story!
-
totally
-
I wonder if I'll become a Dolphins fan again. It's been awhile.
I can only hope for fun and interesting games thus far. But...the local CBS affiliate has been removed by Dish Network, so I may miss a lot as I don't intend to hang out in the bar at 10am. ugh, so early.
-
im happy because i dont have to work either day this weekend
im at work right now with not much to do
hold that thought...
-
...yay for doing something
something was wrong with one of our printers
it was a paperjam so easy to fix
ive never been that big on the fins but winning the super bowl this year would be major epic because of how last season went
-
I'll be free on Sunday, but I'm gonna be announcing at a wrestling tournament on Saturday. However, thanks to my cell phone (OMG I'm praising it!) and TV's in the hospitality, I'll be able to keep track of the games without problems. I'll also be announcing the results of the games at the tourney, too.
-
So do you get to say, "Let's get ready to ruuuuuuuumble!"?
-
^ I've had requests for that, but I've never done it.
Well, I thought it'd be fun to play a game with the predictions. Here's how'd it'd work.
We'd make predictions on what's coming up in the next round of the playoffs. Those we get right = an amount of points based off of the weekend.
Wild-card = 1 point
Division = 2 points
Conference = 3 points
Super Bowl = 5 points
So, that gives me 0 points, and it gives Sporty_Otaku 1 point. Jaybug, if you want in on this too, you can, but you'll have to start at 0 (like we're really that far ahead anyways).
So you guys in?
Here's my spread for this week's action!
AFC
Tennessee Titans over Baltimore Ravens
Pittsburgh Steelers over San Diego Chargers
NFC
New York Giants over Philadelphia Eagles
Carolina Panthers over Arizona Cardinals
-
sounds fun however i could just copy you throughout the entire competition and win it
i wont though
heres my card
ravens over titans
steelers over chargers
eagles over giants
panthers over cardinals
-
I learned back during the Oregon Lottery of NFL wagering, not to make predictions. The only one I have done was to pick the Steelers to win the superbowl, 10 months before the game. Yes, I made $48. I had a co-worker who was going to Vegas for NASCAR place a $2 bet for me. I don't have that same feeling this year.
Steelers, Giants, Titans, Panthers. Although Titans and not heave favorites. And I would rather see Baltimore advance.
Ohio State or Texas tonight?
-
Didn't Texas win?
-
well, I didn't get to watch the games, but I read the results; I still have yet to score any points!
-
i watched them both
the cardinals win was bogus
-
Oh well. Look at it this way, you're now at 3 points, with a chance to go up to 7! (Of course I could get up to 4).
-
of course if i do get seven then you will have 2
if you get 0 or 4 then i will have 5
-
What are the odds of having a bird bowl? Ravens vs. Cardinals. I'd like that. All we need to do is make the steelers irrelevant next week. Right? Unless San Dog can make a heck of a come back today. But they seem so discumbooberated, if the radio guys are any indication of what is really going on.
-
Okay, the Eagles won.
Washougal_Otaku - 0 points
Sporty_Otaku - 5 points
Jaybug - 0 points
The Chargers/Steelers game is about half way through the third with Pittsburgh up 21-10. Either way, we all picked Pittsburgh, so the scores will be the same for all of us.
So the NFC title game will be the Philadelphia Eagles @ the Arizona Cardinals.
The AFC title game will be the Baltimore Ravens @ either the San Diego Chargers or the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Personally, I'm not going to make an official pick on the AFC game, but the NFC game I'm gonna pick Arizona.
-
youre gonna go with arizona?
okay then its your loss
i will take philly and whoever wins the sd/pit game
-
Well, now it's official. We'll have a divisional rivalry match-up for the AFC title (BAL@PIT) and a former divisional rivalry match-up (also a Thanksgiving rematch) for the NFC title (PHI@AZ).
I'm still picking the Cards over the Eagles. I take it that you think Pittsburgh will win, right, S_O? Same here, unfortunately.
How about you, jaybug?
-
I don't want a Pennsylvania Bowl! Pitt and Phil. Sounds like some demolition company. Yeah, I think the Iggles and the Steelers are gonna win. I want the Ravens and the Cardinals to win though. I think at least 3 of these teams are about the oldest in the history of the NFL, the Cards being the oldest team.
Now, if only I could watch the games! Stupid local greedy CBS affiliate, and Darn Dish network! That and work, but why cuss that, it does not change anything, trust me, I've tried!
-
all four bowl possibilities and how it reflects on us
washougalotaku jaybug sportyotaku
pit/phi 2+3+0=5 2+3+3=8 7+3+3=13
pit/ari 2+3+3=8 2+3+0=5 7+3+0=10
bal/phi 2+0+0=2 2+0+3=5 7+0+3=10
bal/ari 2+0+3=5 2+0+0=5 7+0+0=7
-
okay, you win. Can I sit back and enjoy the games now? lol
-
Freaking Giants! I Cant Stand How Bad They Played! This Sucks! sorry for venting but I just had to get that off my chest
-
okay, you win. Can I sit back and enjoy the games now? lol
Well, not really. If the Super Bowl features the Steelers and the Cardinals, then we could still have a chance.
As for you, Higuma, hahahahaha. Sorry, I hate the Giants, and I'm kinda glad that I was wrong about them beating Philly. The only nice thing about their SB win last year was that Jeremy Shockey, one of the best TE's of our time, now has a ring.
-
You mean the guy they traded to New Orleans because he was even more of a problem than Plexico Burress? And they got the kid from Western Oregon University, Boss? That Shockey? lol
-
Yes, that Shockey. (It's funny that he went to NO because that's where he went in my Madden franchise).
-
conference games are tomorrow!
i hope you guys are ready
-
I will only be able to see the NFC title game (which starts @ 12!) but I have to work during dinner, so no see AFC bout. :'(
-
Root for the Bird Bowl! Go Ravens!
Farm out for the Cardinals! That messes up everything don't it? lol
-
Well, Arizona and Pittsburgh will meet in Super Bowl 43! So, Jaybug, you're at 5, Sporty, you're at 10, and I'm at 8. Since Jaybug is trailing, how about if you pick your winner, first, for a chance to tie Sporty?
-
Steelers for the win.
-
that is perfect
i have a feeling it will be arizona with the surprise win perhaps even during the last couple minutes of the game
i got home not too long ago after partying with some friends. most of them were hoping for a baltimore/philadelphia super bowl :'( :'( for both
actually its just one :'( and a ;D for me since i was rooting for pittsburgh
-
Well, I'm glad that things have panned out like this. I'm going with Pittsburgh, too; I don't think it's gonna even be close. This will probably be the biggest one-sided Super Bowl since the Ravens victory over the Giants.
So...
PIT W = Jaybug ties Sporty @ 10, I win @ 13
AZ = Sporty wins @ 15
-
I wonder how much Pittsburgh will really be able to score. McNabb is a much more dangerous quarterback than Rothlesberger(sic?). Arizona seemed to eat Donavan alive for most of the game, except for the 3rd quarter. And Westbrook a more dangerous RB, than Parker. I mean Parker can run the ball, but does he catch the ball?
The Super Bowl may come down to the play of Warner and Big Ben. Who takes advantage of the defense, and who is taken advantage of by the defense. I'd take Arizona's wide-outs over Pittsburghs.
But the Steelers have a Duck playing for them now, so I guess I should root for them but...
What does it really matter to me, I'll be here at work. Hopefully I can watch it on the computer.
Now the other question is,...are the commercials gonna suck, as they spent the puny ad budget just buying air time?
-
The commercials are most likely gonna be worse this year; more stupid beer commercials and possibly some other ones that shouldn't be made.
I don't think McNabb is a great QB anymore, not since the SB loss to New England; Benny is a better QB overall than him, I think.
I think the Pittsburgh defense is gonna eat Warner alive; that's what I'm thinking. Don't get me wrong, their offense will still make some great plays. I just don't think it'll be many, especially since Arizona's defense, to me, doesn't have what it takes to stop a serious threat in the form of Pittsburgh offense. (It's weird praising their offense, ya know?).
-
FIANL SCORE
PITTSBURGH 27
ARIZONA 23
That means I win with 13 points
Jaybug and Sporty_Otaku have 10 each
I think Jaybug should win "the tiebreaker" since he not only picked the correct Super Bowl winners, but he predicted that it would be a close game, (whereas I thought it wouldn't be).
Sorry, Terry; you lose.
-
aw man
well it was fun and being the loser i am glad that we didnt bet anything on this playoff contest of yours
-
Funny you should say that...
I've been thinking about doing something like that for the next season. It wouldn't be betting, though; it would just be a fun contest, and I'm thinking about having a prize available for the winner.
The idea that I've had would be like this...
Everyone would PM me who they think would win during a week in the season. For example,...
Ravens over Colts, Lions over Vikings, Texans over Browns, etc.
I'd keep track of these, and count how many each individual got right. The person who gets the most, wins 3 points for the week, 2nd place gets 2 and 3rd place gets 1.
At the end of the season, the top three or so people would "go on" to the playoffs, where we would use the same (or a similar) system that we used here this month. The regular season totals go away; they mean nothing at this point.
Whadya think?
-
Remind me when we get there. lol oh noz! More picks! aye yi yi yi yi!
Speaking of picks, I think I will have my co-worker put $5 on the Cardinals to win next year's Super Bowl when he goes down to Vegas for the NASCAR race later this month. The way they played, made me think they--could--go--all--the--way. ( Don't you just love Chris Berman cliches?) ugh, sigh.
WHy not?
-
Isn't Warner retiring this year?
-
You mean like Favre?
-
Yeah, like Favre...
