I think I have some harujuku stuff lying around. >_> man I'm just addicted to meet ups lately. maybe do this one after Christmas?
-
Go Goth Lolita!<3
-
yes after x=mas sounds good :D
:DD
woo goth lolita :D
-
there used to be meet ups like this every so often but then they just stopped
-
that's sad jaz. :[ I like random meetups like this. with no point to them really except for some sort of outfit theme. :3
-
itd be fun :D
-
omg I've been waiting for someth like this x3
VK, Loli, Decora... I wanna see some style other than cosplay >3
I might try to do a Decora Pikachu Kigurumi (http://pinku-dekora.livejournal.com/4294.html) 80 Since it'd be fitting for the weather too x3
Or maybe if I get a few months I can work together something Oshare-kei or Takuya Angel-ishhhh... (http://web.mac.com/takuya_angel/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html)
ANYWAY *rambling*
... Yuh, it'd be fun to be freaky and all dressed-up without the need to act in-character or anything o3o Harajuku styles especially'll teach you more about someone ;o
-
Okay take me to school. What style is this?
-
Harajuku station's a place in Japan filled with many popular fashion brands, and many teens and adults go dress up in various styles, either brand or made, to hang out, shop, or get their pictures taken x3
So Harajuku fashion usually means any Japanese street fashion, which can range from Lolita (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion), Decora (http://community.livejournal.com/d_e_c_o_r_a/191408.html#cutid1), Kigurumi (http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/fashion-style/3-the-official-kigurumi-thread-3-poll-new-pics/t.33849161/), FruIts(which is also a magazine with colorful outfits x3), Punk, Cosplay of bands, etcetc
Some dun have names, they're just weird 83
I found a cool gallery with pictures from Harajuku (as well as some... not) here;
http://www.japanforum.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2
-
you so many non anime fans actually know harujuku style because of gwen stafani I wonder how many people will talk to us or ask for pictures when we do this.
-
I swear I've heard before from many people into Jfasihion that they despise that song 'Harajuku Lovers' and it doesn't really reflect on the fashion that well ._.; But idk.
I dunno, most people that know of the song don't really know a thing about what the fashions look like, not to mention the varying types... I bet the people taking pictures would be doing it for other reasons. Such as us being freaks *u*
Which isn't a bad thing, rly.
Anywayyyy xD;
-
true. but it can be similar sometimes. :/ lol
it's like we're from a circus. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...... XD
-
Man, Harajuku is like the best place to shop. That's one thing I miss so much. On saturdays is when all of the younger people just hang out by the meji shrine entrance. Yeah the style does range. Hazuza said it best. Although not all fashions would be shown off in Harajuku, the place to show off prep and hip hop/rap style would be Shibuya. The high class and business styles are in Shinjuku, although there was an awsome store there that had a different style on each level (starting from prep and moving to the grotesque and lolita higher up).Funny thing is, these three districts are all right next to each other basically and Harajuku is sandwiched between. Sadly I only bought one thing in Harajuku because everything was either too expensive or too small. Alright, I'm stopping now. Sorry if you already knew all of this.
-
-Lucky, you went.... D8
-Yuh, it sucks how a lot of things are small for Americansss... So I just try to make replicas for myself >3
-Oh, and dun forget Akihabara for the cosplayers 8DD
-Ahh, so how many people here are actually interested? *3*
How many people need ideas or can share ideas of outfits/accessories they got?
Or when/where could we do this?
*tries to get back on-topic*
-
well really I like the style but I don't know completely what is acceptable and what not. any one have any good sites with references and rules? sort of like the lolita handbook but for harujuku.
-
I wouldn't really think there are any rules ^^ I think the whole trend of dressing up in Harajuku started with people just wanting to express themselves. It's cool to base it on an existing major style, but don't think you have to stick strong to examples or anything.
What sort of a style would you want to try using? Got any pictures or ways to describe one? 80 I could probably find you similar styles, photos, or a site to help you out 8P
-
well really I dunno what I want to go with. just as long it's something I already have in my closet or I can easily buy or borrow from a friend. hold on let me go look at some pics to find examples I could do.
-
Omg I don't even think I have Harujuku clothing XD
i needs some. When and where if this is actually happening.
-
@sugar
time and date isn't really sure yet. I think we're just trying to figure who wants to go yet.
-
I might just be up for it ^_^
Harajuku is a lot of random stuff usually >>
Yet it all works XD
-
@sugar
yeah true. I need to see what I can find for this. wonder where we should go when we do this meetup.
-
Anytime and most likely anywhere is fine XD
I don't know if I have leg warmers though o-o
[/gasp] I don't really wear accessories and stuff but I can make an acception for one day is someone helps me XD
-
a friend of mine is actually making me some. :3 and I have tons of accessories and clothes I could wear for this meet up now so I think I'll be fine. I say we should go to get sushi or something like that when we do this.
-
I like...has no accesories but bracelets XD
I bearly have any hair accessories and necklaces but yeah XD
Sushi sounds nice!
-
dollar tree has really cute cheap accessories if you need them. I'll probably want to buy more stuff for this though. harujuku has such crazy decor the outfit. or a noodle place. :3 anything where I can use chopsticks. haven't for a long time now. :/
-
[/uses chopsticks all the time]
OH YOUR RIGHT! I need to go buy some!
-
they probably have other things that can be used for this as well. like jewelery, stickers, and gloves and things.
-
I'll have to scout around my room for some random accessories. Maybe go to fubon for some hello kitty stuff XD
-
or morning glory. claires also. maybe I'll go get some stuff from then on the 23rd for the meetup then. yeah that'd be good.
-
Not every style has a ton of accessories Ouo You're probably thinking of Decora, but... yeahhhh...
Moni, I wanna see you in Decora 80 You'd look awesome.
-
well when I typed in harujuku style it was pretty decorative. :/ I probably won't get to crazy with my outfit however.
-
Here's an album I showed earlier; http://www.japanforum.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2
Not all outfits gotta be decorative ^^; Like Ouji and Kodona are styles that are kind of like victorian inspired, and call for minimal accessories.

Different punk styles are popular too, if you don't want to use a lot of color :x To differentiate from western punk styles might be a little difficult though, since they're so similar. PLAID AND ASYMMETRY? IDK xD
But the more colorful you are, the more eyecatching and noticeable you are, which may be a good thing ;3
-
but kodona is more lolita. when I typed in harujuku it game me clothes worn there but when I put style afterward their were all decora, colorful, or had crazy pieces to them. I kind of want to go with crazy harujuku though. it'd be fun to be like someone puked rainbow all over me. XD
-
So if we meet up, where and when again?
-
@sugar
that...is still not decided I think. not even sure who all is going to this. only like 5 or so people have posted in here. I don't think it will be terribly soon though.
-
@ Hazuza
I know that this is way back in the conversation. Akihabara is great for otaku and gamers, but to show off cosplay they typically go to Harajuku (at least that's where I saw them). I only saw maids in Akihabara handing out ad fliers. Plus you can buy costumes/cosplay at anime superstores in Akihabara. The wildest things I saw was the Katamari prince walking through downtown Tokyo/Ginza.
@ tofutakeout
Yeah there is no exact style for Harajuku. It's basically a was to be individualistic in a collective society. My fav style is the psedo-Silent Hill/evil doctor style. My favorite line of clothes were emt style clothes with blood spatters all over. Any Harajuku style makes me excited though.
-
I...Kind of want to go some fake blood just so I can have fun messing up some of my clothes. :D I think I'm just sort of going to mix some harujuku styles together I guess. I can't really just stick with one.
-
@Uraharafreak- I'm not totally knowledgeable on Akihabara since I dun look up much stuff about it, I just remember seeing youtube videos of groups of cosplayers there and stuff before *-* I dunno.
Ahhhh we need more people. >: *counts us*
Haha, we only have about 4 people that might wanna do this xD and two that I'm unsure.
meh.
-
i hope we actually do this :)
-
same. I might be able to get a couple others. but there so not into wanting to go to meetups that they'll likely say no. but it doesn't hurt to try. :/
-
@ Hazuza- Ah it's no big deal. I had originally thought that too, but it's an awesome place to buy every anime thing under the sun.
I could try to get a couple people too.
-
so I think I'm going to do a mixture of this
http://www.japanforum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2711&size=big&cat=2
and a version of one of those bloody ones. but I can't find a good one. so it's sort of like I'll be a cannibal cutie. <3

i liked that one too :)
-
Wow...that so much stuff...
-
I know its a lot. but how often do you get to dress up like this? my school would tell me to take it off becasue its distracting. D: but I just got my friend to tsay she wants to come since she has TONS of crazy clothing and accessories like this.
-
haha i usually only dress up at cons :)
-
but its so fun to dress outside of cons and meet ups as well. :3
-
i tried once :D!
it wasnt very sucksessful D:
people made fun of me ;o;
-
thats why you keep going with it. if you show that it doesn't get to you they should stop or just feel really dumb about it. :D but this meet up for sure will get us some strange stares.
-
i know xD
especially if i get my tu-tu in time :) yes :)
tutu with furry legwarmers, blak tights with pink tights torn on top
and i havent decided to use a doctors mask or just to the tape thingy over my nose :)
-
that'll be freaking cute. and awesome as hell. ;D I can't wait to see.
-
:DD thank you ^w^ i love my furry leg warmers ^.^
but i have to re-sew part of them cause they came un-did D:
-
I was a Harujuku girl for Halloween last year. >>;
-
@green
your welcome. I love leg warmers. I can't wait till I get them. :3
@starry
really? like your own version or the one you can buy at the Halloween store? doing a original would be awesome but I think the gwen costume one is a good base to tweak and play around with. :3
