Title: Language Use For Skits
Post by: Syd-chan on March 03, 2008, 04:30:59 pm
Ok, so I'm not sure if maybe I should just wait until the skit rules come up, if they haven't already...But, I didn't see it last year, so....

I was wondering what the language policy was for skits during KumoriCon. I think the rating overall is PG-13, but I'm not sure what that would include. Of course, I won't start cussing left and right...But, it'd still be nice to know if I had to use 'darn' instead of 'damn'.

Thanks!

Well F**K and SH** are right out. A couple of uses of "damn" are fine.
You can say "ass", especially "dumbass" but not "asshole".
And of course no backflips, bodily fluids, full frontal nudity, or livestock on stage.

There's actually a movie out there about the rating system and how weird they are about ratings and language.

You can't do backflips?  not even if you actually know how to do them?  What if it's part of your plan to fail?

Way back at the first K-con someone did a backflip and didn't let anyone know what was going to happen, he didn't kill himself but people thought he was going to. I think Tom was making a joke about that.

No, I'm serious, backflips are banned.
As is jumping off the stage in any direction.
Jumping on the stage itself is frowned upon but less enthusiastic jumps may be allowed.

It's unfortunate that certain gymnastics types moves are banned, however I have noticed that many of the stages that we get from hotels are so terribly unstable that I fully understand why they don't want to allow those kind of activities on the stages. Typically, the stage is made of a set of 8'x4' "tables" that are merely pushed together. If you're lucky, each panel of the stage is linked strongly to the next, but don't count on it. I suspect that's why the gymnastics type moves are prohibited: it's HOTEL LIABILITY... (In other words, the cosplay director has no say in allowing /disallowing such actions, but the hotel can forbid certain activities and substances from the stage just because they don't want to deal with any possible liabilities that could be created by such things.)

Oh, the Cosplay rules have been ready since late January... I'm waiting on Web master to post them [hope he posted them; check the main site]. The rules are essentially unchanged from last year, so if you have last years' rules, you're good to go [there were a few changes, but nothing major changed].

The cosplay rules should be posted within the next week... with everything else going on, I forgot to pass them on to the website people so they can post them (sorry :-[).  I also hope to have the registration forms up as well.

I think that rules for skits are a little strict.Which is why i never go to watch them.=/
If they could have different age limited ones,That would be nice.
I mean,I get that it should be a little family friendly.
But honestly,i dont see a bunch of little kids that go to the skits and stuff.v.v
Its just a little unfortunate to me.

When i see other skits for other animal conventions,Theye are people who will get damn close to naked.
They swear,
And their skits are really funny.
Fanservice skits are the best when you need a laugh.
But eh.
Thats just my opinion.

Once the con goes 24 hours I'm sure someone will start an 18 and Over cosplay contest.  ;)
