well this reply might be a little late considering the con is over now >_> buuuut for next year or whatever, you could take your parent down to the DMV and get paperwork filled out for an official ID card. (like neko-chan pointed out in the other question like this)

Well, emailing registration beforehand is usually a good starting point.  We can usualy work out issues like this before the con.  Sorry that this is reply is after the con.  Were you able to get in alright?

What does being home schooled have to do with having a photo ID? Do schools give photo IDs nowadays?

And you can always get a state ID. That's what I have.

Mistress Legato beat me to this point, but most public schools will give out a student ID, which if you don't have a driver's license might be a younger person's only form of photo ID.

I would think that if you were with your parents then a birth certificate would worth, though.  However, I am not staff, so check for yourself.

Wow, that's bizarre.

Anyway, you don't need to be able to drive to have a state ID. Mine just says "Not a licence to drive" on it.

I didn't even need a photo ID. My school ID dropped out of my bag at my house and I was freaking out since it takes 2 hours to drive to the con, but they let me register without one. I guess you only need one if you pre-register or are over 18.

Did your schools not give out ID's?  That's so interesting!

Yeah, I have a State ID, not a driver's license.  You sure need a lot of crap to get one!!!

A form of valid ID is such a hassle to get because it's used, pretty much everywhere, as an authentication token.  It has to signify several things about you, in a way that anyone looking at it can legally use to cover their rear's with.

They always contain the following:

If you're getting a state ID, please remember to check your state DMV's website, as it will usually list the requirements for a driver's license/state ID.  Usually the verification information for both is the same thing, save for passing a driving test.

Also, the reason the con badges are not valid proof of ID for adult venues is that there isn't actual validation of the 'provided image' on the ID.  You could submit a photo of anyone, or more often, a custom image (like your avatar here).  Then there's no way of verifying that you are actually presenting your badge.  This also logically explains several policies regarding lost badges (in case they're intentionally misplaced).

Itachi, if you're homeschooled, have your parents take you to DMV to get an id card.

Well, I went to school 1) 10 years ago and 2) in Indiana. Maybe that explains it.

Another issue with adult badges is that in addition to what Michael discussed, there's always the problem of having a group of teenagers, some 18 and some not, who will pass off the blue badges to their younger friends.  This is why the badge alone in some events is not considered valid ID.
