Title: Hotel Booked Solid
Post by: Chek on July 20, 2006, 11:27:16 am
So, the hotel is booked solid, and so is the Doubltetree not so far away. There is Holiday Inn Express.  2300 N. Hayden Island Drive, Portland, OR.  Phone: 503-283-8000. which isn't so far away, but I'm looking for someone who can take me and a friend or two in for the length of the con.

Also nearby is Oxford Suites. 12226 N Jantzen Drive, Portland, OR 97217. Phone: 503-283-3030; Toll-free: 1-800-548-7848; Fax: 503-735-1661.

I've tenativly booked rooms here, but I'm leaning towards finding a place at the Con hotel, but if anyone is interested in staying at theis other place, feel free to let me know that as well.

We can pay as soon as checkin is confirmed, and I was planning on staying from Friday to Tuesday, so if there is someone else with that schedule that wants a roomie who basically wants a place to store stuff, and a closet to sleep in, I'd be grateful if you could drop me a line.

Thanks!

One little note to cheer you all. if these hotels are booked solid for the times during the con, the turn out this year is going to be insanely great. :)

I had the foresight to book my reservation early. I have no qualms about having people camp in my room, so let me know. So far in my room I have:

Myself (Cassandra)
My cousin Sara
Forum buddy Kalark (Josh)
And my buddy from where I used to work Gavin

Plenty of floor space left, and if people don't mind being real friendly like we could probably fit three people on a bed. I have a two queen room reserved ^.^

I can't believe the main hotel is full.

Im planing on staying at the Oxford because it really is very close. heres a pic of ecactly how close. dont mind the words it was for a freind to tell them where it was.

(https://www.kumoricon.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi51.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff397%2FXiggani%2FMap.jpg&hash=f3b0e3ff6f69b46538c0eaa4bdc654f2180d305e)

its a little blurry but the small red circle is Oxford and the big one is Kumoricon.

ok the pic works now

Yeah, I'm reserved right now for the Oxford too, and willing to take people in still. Two queen size beds, and a couch that folds out.

Heh. We should form teams from all the different local hotels...and, on a serious note, maybe we should do it so we all go back and forth in groups, just for the sake of safety. I haven't been out to Jatzen Beach for a long while now, but I know for a fact that people will be going back and forth at all hours.

Hmm. It is a thought.

my only comment on other hotels is PLEASE be carful traveling to and from the hotels/con and always travel in pairs at the minimum. safety first.

I just saw the picture and immediately this came to mind:

*Conversation in a car*

"Look honey, we're now entering Oregon."
*Sees a group of Cat-girls, Ninjas, short blonde guys in red jackets*
"Um, maybe we should turn back."

@ kylite
If they haven't been made yet, maybe staff should put in a small reminder in the Con Program Books saying something like "Be careful and travel in groups if you are staying in one of the surrounding hotels."

After being at a hotel 4-5 blocks away from sakuracon this year, and not part of thier reccomended or whathave you hotels... *and* having to walk by the greyhound station... having guys yell stuff at me and my gf like "hey gals wanna come back to my place and..." i got a hotel a hotel at the red lion early :3
right now there is only three people (well 2 for sure, and 1 maybe) me, my gf, and a friend... so if someone needs some floor space or something, we might be able to pull something. we reserved a 2 queen bed room so there may or maynot be a bed available as well (if our friend doesn't come through)

Well, the Oxford Suites, as seen above is just across a parking lot for the looks of it...  Here are mapquest directions (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&qq=hltF3hzNT9tNhURP0HLlhh9UYBmHRqyBceg4Gkon14D8uewLk7pjHQ%253d%253d&ct=NA&rsres=1&1y=US&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&1pn=&1a=12226+N+Jantzen+Drive&1c=Portland&1s=OR&1z=97217&2y=US&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=909+N.+Hayden+Island+Drive&2c=Portland&2s=OR&2z=97217&r=f) to the Red Lion from the Oxford. It seriously says that it takes 0 minutes to get there... so definitely the best choice^^ I would think.

The Courtyard Portland North Harbor is about one and a half miles away and across a bridge from the hotel, here's the mapquest directions (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&qq=hltF3hzNT9tNhURP0HLlhh9UYBmHRqyBceg4Gkon14D8uewLk7pjHQ%253d%253d&ct=NA&rsres=1&1y=US&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&1pn=&1a=1231+North+Anchor+Way&1c=Portland&1s=OR&1z=97217&2y=US&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=909+N.+Hayden+Island+Drive&2c=Portland&2s=OR&2z=97217&r=f).

The Days Inn is also about a mile and a half away, also across the bridge, here ar the mapquest directions (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&qq=hltF3hzNT9tNhURP0HLlhh9UYBmHRqyBceg4Gkon14D8uewLk7pjHQ%253d%253d&ct=NA&rsres=1&1y=US&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&1pn=&1a=9930+N.+Whitaker+Road&1c=Portland&1s=OR&1z=97217&2y=US&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=909+N.+Hayden+Island+Drive&2c=Portland&2s=OR&2z=97217&r=f).

The Holiday Inn express is one I would recommend if the Oxford fills up because it's less that a mile away and on the same street... But the Oxford is still closer... Here are the mapquest directions (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&qq=hltF3hzNT9tNhURP0HLlhh9UYBmHRqyBceg4Gkon14D8uewLk7pjHQ%253d%253d&ct=NA&rsres=1&1y=US&1ffi=&1l=&1g=&1pl=&1v=&1n=&1pn=&1a=2300+N.+Hayden+Island+Drive&1c=Portland&1s=OR&1z=97217&2y=US&2ffi=&2l=&2g=&2pl=&2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=909+N.+Hayden+Island+Drive&2c=Portland&2s=OR&2z=97217&r=f) for you^^

The best thing to do is to do what me and my group did.
We mapquested the red lion and then just looked around to see which hotels were where and how close they were. Then you go to each ones home page to look for price.

Someone try again, I just had to cancel. My work is sending me to a class in Kentucky, and I have to pay first, then get reimbursed. Wish they would have told me that sooner.

So, there is one room at the Red Lion available now.

Post by: RemSaverem on August 31, 2006, 05:20:02 pm
my boyfriend and i have a 2-queen room at the red lion for saturday and sunday. however, if we don't find folks to share it with us, who can pay at least close to half (we'd take one, two, or three), then we can't afford it. so we'd be looking for floor or bedspace at some hotel from someone........

any takers? any offerers?

thanks!
