Hey folks, anyone else going to Anime Oasis in May? It's celebrating ten years in 2011. The con is actually really neat, and though it is a drive (Idaho) it is completely worth it. I mean, cosplay roller skating last year.

Since I'm sure somebody will ask... I believe the "Final" in the name is just a humorous title to that year's event, which they pick every year. It is not actually the last con. (Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong...)
Think "Final Fantasy". :)

^ ...so they're doing a Final Fantasy theme?
I think I'll add this to possible cons for my club to go to. We'll be voting on our trip this Saturday.

No. I mean, "Final Fantasy" was not the last game in a series despite its name. It was just an example. I am not sure exactly why this year's event is named "Final", but they have appended a different word/name to each year's event.

I can't afford to get there, but by golly, cosplay rollerskating *almost* gets me there...
One of my all-time epic cosplays was Aragog on rollerskates for HP film & book releases....

Yeah, last year was Anime Oasis Saga. So it is just a naming scheme, haven't seen anything that would indicate this is the last one they are running out there.
As for cost, Oasis is relatively affordable - but thats before you consider gas to get to Idaho I guess. Epic road trips are always fun though. Room rates are $79 a night, so splitting that isn't so bad.

Ah. Well, it WAS intended to be the final game made by that company, but it was so popular that they kept in business and made it into a franchise, at least from what I understand.

AmTrak. If my club goes, we'll most likely be taking AmTrak down there.

Don't think I will be able to make that AND Sakuracon unfortunately...they are so close together.
