Title: When was your first con, and what was your first cosplay?
Post by: Konan-ChanX3 on July 26, 2010, 08:23:18 pm: I've been wanting to know how long you've all been attending cons and such, and what your first cosplays were.

My first con was the very first Kumo, I remember the road trip, it was terrible. My first cosplay was at the same con, I was Henrietta from Gunslinger Girl, and then Usagi Tsukino from Sailor Moon.

Missed Kumoricon 2003 by a few days, heard about it from a friend and spazzed out. "THERE'S AN ANIME CON IN OREGON WHAT??!! WE'RE GOING NEXT YEAR!!"

Went as Kagome from InuYasha. Almost didn't cosplay cause I wasnt sure if people would or not, didnt wanna be the odd man out. GLAD I did. Went as a schoolgirl though since I was my first and its simple. :P

Sakuracon 08 was better, I had a real costume. Ristuka was just thrown together at the last moment. I had a jacket that looked like his and hair kinda the same as his and ears and a tail XD

However, I suck at makeup, decided to go with my real hair and try to make it black temporarily(which didn't work too well) my shirt was too big, and I ended up looking like a washed-out panda in a sort of schoolgirl outfit. (FAIL) I'd like to think, though, that the first ever cosplay I actually did was when I was nine and dressed up as Misty for Halloween. I was a pretty cool little kid, when I wasn't having emotional instabilities.

I just threw on a Yu Yu Hakusho tee and a Naruto headband, along with some accessories and anything anime-related I owned. So basically, I looked like a plain otaku.
Oh, and I only went on the last day cuz... well, I didn't know anything. =w=;

Post by: KyoKyo866 on July 27, 2010, 10:52:02 am: My first con was actually AX '07 (I had no idea Kumori-con existed o.o) It was quite amazing despite the lack of any real plans except just walking around in a first cosplay that was Yami Marik, though I was very unprepeared and it was practically closet with no wig (bad idea x.x), with my mama. Not too bad of a time believe it or not~

Post by: Dubaby on July 27, 2010, 02:03:11 pm: Kumoricon 2008... I was dressed as Rikku from Final Fantasy X-2 in the white mage dressphere along with two of my friends as Yuna and Paine.

It was a nicely made costume (Our Yuna's aunt is a seamstress and made them for free), but at the time I wasn't as good with make-up as I am now and sucked at posing. So it wasn't as good as it could have been. XD

I just recently started going to conventions and started to cosplay. I am going to Kumoricon this year in that outfit and also in his Knight of Zero outfit.

I was a fail! and also casual!Sora (I like to think I have gotten better at him hahaha) If you would like to laugh at my fail and lack of knowledge about binding and glasses-wearing, here is a picture from the event :D

My first (technical) cosplay was Hanajima Saki from Fruits Basket. I made it in about four hours on an impulse after my friends invited me to Kumoricon '06 and were cosplaying Uotani Arisa from Fruits Basket and Sloth from FMA.

My first real attempt at a cosplay was Alphonse Elric armor version for Sakuracon 2007. $100 and six sheets of cardboard with countless hot gluesticks.

Technically, my 'first' cosplay was at a friends' house and I got bored and tried on her Tifa stuff.
Con-wise, was Haruhi Fujioka, from Ouran High School Host Club from the first episode. Y'know, with the sweater, messy hair and glasses and all that. No one knew who I was T^T

My first cosplay was actually before I even knew about anime conventions. I went as female-type Ranma for Halloween back in middle school on Halloween AKA a long time ago.

Kagome from "InuYasha". It was the best because I got a picture with an older Inu/Kag couple who had awesome cosplay. xD I still want to redo Kagome and make it better.

This year that costume will be much more professionally executed!
There are NO PICTURES of this so... as far as history is concerned, I didn't
exist at the convention... I was a ghost... lurking until I could unleash my
wrath on the convention this year! MUWAHAHA!

As for Anime cons, it was 2004's Sakuracon and I wore a men's traditional silk kimono one day and a matsuri festival Happi coat & headband the next.

Espically if it was their first time last year at Kcon, My friends and me feel so bad for all the 1st timers tht had a bad 1st expierence.

Twice I've gone to the wig store by Lloyd Center and asked for the Kumoricon discount. When I did, the shopkeep looked at me baffled and said "Normally I can pick them out. I never would have suspected you were the type". XD It makes me wonder what type of Kumoripeople come in to buy wigs at his shop.
