Welcome to the place online you can volunteer to be a host for the ball.

If you want to volunteer here's a few things you need to know:
1. In order to be a proper host you need to learn a few formal dances. The Waltz and the East Coast Swing are two that you specifically need to learn.
2. We're having all hosts wear boutonnieres and corsages that are identical. Unfortunately you are going to have to pay for your own (but it'll be cheap because I'm making them myself)
3. There is a group of people dressing as the actual Ouran host club characters so we'd like it if no one else dressed as the actual characters. This does not include just wearing the Ouran Host School uniforms, you just can't cosplay as the characters.

As a host it is your job to keep the attendees company, if you watch Ouran Host Club you'll get an idea of what that means. Also since this is a dance you'll also need to be able to dance with the attendees and ask them to dance as well.

If you want to volunteer to be a host reply to this with your email, name and gender (or gender your intending to dress as for the dance if your crossplaying)
If your uncomfotable with sharing your personal info publicly you can message it to me.
I'll be sending emails out with updates on the situation.

I've figured out the cost of the corsages and boutonnieres please check your emails for further detail
I'm planning on having as many people as can make it get together in Portland to learn to dance and get to know each other sometime during the month of August. Any suggestions on what day, time and where are appreciated! send them via email please ^^

Maybe you could just use your Ouran uniform since they've got the actual host characters covered?

Unless your one of the people that have been pre-organized to be one of the host club characters at the ball please do not dress as a specific character. I have been asked to not have volunteers do it because there is a group that is already dressing as them and they don't want any confusion. The people that are doing this are actually the people who are in charge of the ball so...
On the other hand you can be an anonymous Ouran high school student. They have no qualms with that.

Two days away from day 0

When and where should we have our final (for some up us first) dance practice? It would be cool if we could hold it in the ballroom where the actual dance will take place, but I imagine staff will be setting up in that room then...

Also, how early should be be to the actual event? 1 hour? 30min?

I LOVED helping out with this event so much! It really made me want to get more involved with helping out the con.

I agree with kimiski~ Even though I was sort of the "last minute Haruhi" I'm really glad that I got to help out. I loved socializing with other attendees who I danced with, as well as being in character as Haruhi. :3 (which comes naturally, lol.) Once we get a thread for next year, I will sign up immediately! Being a part of the Host Club for the past two years has always been my favorite part of the con.
