With the convention barely over a week away, we have some exciting news:
First, the entire schedule has been posted online. Download the pocket guide, and view online descriptions of every convention event. Check out the event map, hours, exhibitors, artists, a map and index of local food and stores, and everything else you want to know about the convention. The number of event rooms is huge this year, with more to do than ever before.
Schedule page (http://www.kumoricon.org/?page_id=111) (Download the pocket guide here!)
Hotel page (http://www.kumoricon.org/?page_id=4) (Find event and food/area maps here.)
Second, for the first time, Kumoricon is a 24-hour convention. The fun never stops with things to do every moment of the day. Panels and dances run late, viewing rooms are open 24 hours, and several gaming rooms are open 22 hours a day.
Third, our registration hours are longer than ever before. Arrive as early as 4pm on Friday, the day before the convention, to either check-in if you pre-registered, or to register at the door. That's right--for the first time this year, even if you didn't pre-register, you can arrive on Friday to register for the weekend. Show up early to reduce your wait! Be ready and checked in when the events start at 8am Saturday morning! To help move the line, registration opens at 6am on Saturday.
Please see the registration page (http://www.kumoricon.org/?page_id=13) for very important information on what you need with you to check in, and details on our policies.

oh that throws a wrench into some of my plans O_o
do you think the line will still be long by 8 am saturday?
-
How/when/where do you get tickets for the "ticketed events" like the cosplay contest?
-
Info Booth.
-
Well won't this be fun! I'm probably gonna show up around noon Friday. Primo spots in line~
-
seriously though Jeff, do you think the line will still be fairly long by 8? I have a line entertainment group going and we were planning to start at 8 when the line usually opens, but now I'm not sure if its necessary x_x
-
Unfortunately I really have no idea. We're expanding hours to try to head off crowds as events start Saturday morning, but it's very difficult to know whether it will be super-effective, or still not enough. That's why we're individually suggesting that people show up early, but it's difficult to know exactly how important that advice is.
-
hmm
well I'm encouraging my group to be at the hotel and up and ready by 7 : o so I'll prob check on the line round then and decided if were going to head out early or not.
I dont mind if we dont have to or anything, the point to the entertainment brigade is like the point of trying to make the line less of a hassle, make sure everyone is enjoying themselfs.
and I'm surprised your opening it on friday for non pre reg : / friday always just kinda felt like a bonus day for those who did reg ahead of time
-
That's true about Friday. However, we're bigger than ever before so it's more important to try to clear as many people as possible on Friday, which is why we're allowing at-con reg then.
-
hmm well it will be interesting no doubt

Due to the layout of the hotel we probably can't have people lining up before 3 or 3:30. We will have more info shortly.
-

Yeah, anyone lining up being 5:00 AM will be asked to go away. I spoke to the hotel today guys and they said that 5:00AM is the absolute earliest. The hotel staff are really excited for this event :) (Seriously, our event manager at the hotel used to only work with events like this down in Cali and she is so excited to work with a fan con again. )
....Maybe I should've mentioned that the to rest of the board? *goes to email*
-
what are tickets?

what are tickets?
Entry passes for events. All events which require them note this. Sometimes, it is because there is an extra cost. Other times, it is to limit attendance because of capacity. They can be picked up at the Info Booth.
-
oh okay got it thank you very much ^^

Well obviously. I'm simply stating that I'll be at the hotel by noon, and probably hanging around helping out in any way I can until I can line up.
-
i'll probably be getting there around 3 : o I need to unload artist alley stuff. I dunno how different our registration is from others x_x cause Im thinking I have to stand in the normal line with everyone else but at the same time I need to start unloading merchandise and set up shop.
-
so question: do we need to wait until saturday to get our tickets to other events? And if so, if we have our reg badges, can we just head to the info booth first thing saturday morning? Thanks.
-
Artist alley people will pick their badges up in Artists Alley.. find the staff there.
And tickets for events will not be available until the morning of the event. If you are already checked-in, you can go to Info Booth.
-
thanks Jamiche : D
-
can't check in until 4, so me and my friends are going to visit some of the gardens and maybe voodoo doughnuts lol.
then check-in for the hotel AND pre-registration
-
i just noticed that i cant find where reg is on the hotel maps..... so where exactly is that going to be?
-
Registration will be on the second floor (except press, industry, and panelists). This is the floor labeled PL (Plaza), and is up the huge staircase from the lobby. Look for signs (it will be hard to miss).
