I heard from another list that parking meters are no longer free / "off" on Sundays.
So brace yourself for an expensive experience if you go into Portland.
Free Sunday parking in Portland is history.

Will the fareless square also be history by this KC?
-
Yes, fareless square now has fares.
-
What? I haven't seen anything that says that fareless square has fares now. I'm reading an article that they might change it slightly, but it's still around.
-
I'm pretty sure fareless square is still fareless.

It was discussed; it was rejected. Fareless square remains fareless.
If you get into town around 4am, you can usually find free street parking. Inconvenient time to get into town? Not so much. You'll avoid traffic, and you'll have 4 hours to get your stuff together, get to the hotel/wherever you're staying, find some breakfast, or just sleep in the car for a couple hours before the con starts.

In the newspaper recently (few days ago) It said fareless square will be no longer available January 8th (I believe)

The Trimet Website says that Fareless Square will change in a few ways starting in January. Fareless will no longer apply to buses; it will only apply to the MAX. This isn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, since now that they've added the Green Line (the Max that goes up and down 5th and 6th) you can still get where you would have gotten on the bus, just on the Max. Not as tragic as it at first sounded I will admit.
