Title: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: Shingami_lover on May 31, 2009, 05:37:24 pm
So I am going to be doing the Dragon Moon Festival for all the three months but July 4th.

Dragon Moon Festival is June 6-7, July 4-5, and August 1-2

So I was thinking it would be cool to set up groups for the days like we could have one to two Animes each week then people who do not have one that do not match would work to show their are many different groups... the first one in the group is what I am doing!

June 6th - Naruto - ??
7th - Bleach  -  Soul Eater
July 4th - ?? - ??
5th - Final Fantasy- ??
August 1st - Kingdom Hearts - Pokemon
2nd - Ouran High Host Club - Naruto

If you have any other ideas write them down.... the ones for June will stay the same for me so any other groups

More info for DMF can be found under the General Convention and Anime! or email: publicity@kumoricon.org

And I will post more as I found out more

I would be up for it but I would want to do Naruto, Final Fantasy, and kingdom hearts. I can do kingdom but not the other two because those are on the weekend before my finals and I need to study. If they were any other day then I would totally do it. I might be able to go to one but I am not sure.

Well I can move Bleach up and have Naruto twice!

That would work. I would be able to go to those weekends more likely than any other, but it depends on work and vacation and what not.

This would be a lot of fun. I just hope I can make it to at least one of them. I just noticed something....of course the Kingdom Hearts is the 1st. That might work out well, we are doing a photo shoot the 1st at the train station and that is close to china town.

No promises for certain yet but if we have extra time during the Kumoricon main stage activities from 4-6pm on Sunday, which is likely, I will see if we can have on-stage cosplay photos!

My boyfriends band is playing at whatever finals thing they have at your school where kids do their work and bands play. I'm going to be there to watch and hang out with friends/do my work from Friday until early Sunday I do believe.

So the first two days went well! Bang Bang Neko came and did a wonderful skit on the stage!

July 5th I am coming up with a skit and I need Final Fantasy characters!  Turks... Cloud (Nikki), Tifa, Zach, Yufi and that I forgot... I can add on

Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: nikkiolie on June 07, 2009, 10:19:06 pm
I am not a big fan of doing skits, and I plan on wearing Kuja not Cloud for the ff day >_>;

Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: ~boogiepop~ on June 08, 2009, 09:18:51 am
Whoo, I'm hoping I can still come for the Final Fantasy day. Either way, I need to make some new socks and a bracelet before that day. Too much work.
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: nikkiolie on June 08, 2009, 09:33:57 am
That isn't that much work. And there is a month till this meet-up that's plenty of time.
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: ~boogiepop~ on June 08, 2009, 01:03:49 pm
I'm going to Iowa after my finals and until two or three days before the meetup though and I'm not bringing my cosplay stuff with me, that's really the only reason I'm worried.
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: nikkiolie on June 08, 2009, 01:12:51 pm
Oh I see, well then use the old stuff? Its not that big of a meet-up you don't have to have things perfect. Plus I would almost rather show off the good stuff for k-con
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: ~boogiepop~ on June 08, 2009, 03:20:57 pm
True, it's small stuff, it's just a little time consuming with calculations. I want to get it done so I can focus on my new costumes and not have to worry about my old costumes before k-con.

News from the Pokemon Front Lines...
I'm slowly getting my head back in the card game. And to celebrate I'm hoping to try and come on the 1st as good old Red from Pallet Town. though Yellow was my first GB game.

Okey on the 5th I have Cisseni (Me), Pres. (PockyReno), and a Reno (Mike)... I need a Rude. Some other Turks will be nice (we need to protect the Pres) then I need one or two bad guys

Would anyone like to have a Turk-sedo Mask?
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: soundninja12 on June 19, 2009, 11:57:22 am
I'm going to wear my allen on the 4th, so I was wondering if that was ok?
I was also wondering who I should be for the 5th because I don't have a Final Fantasy cosplay?
If my Kurama's finished by then, could I wear that?
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: nikkiolie on June 19, 2009, 11:15:41 pm
I'm sure that would be fine. We can't excatly control what you wear....it was just a suggestion I guess?

Post by: soundninja12 on June 19, 2009, 11:23:09 pm
Well, I have I think one for every other day, I just don't have any video game cosplays.
So, I thought that I'd just use my D. Grey Man.

I didn't think they would be, just thought I'd tell you, I'd be considerably less embarrassed knowing that you guys know I wont be a video game character.

Meh. cosplay is for fun, you should never be tied down to anything. Do what you want to do.

Some try to follow the trend from one to the next, some cosplay for age-less fun. I lie somewhere between these two, but that's just me. So as a new cosplay of an old legend, I'm closing in on being Pokemon Trainer Red.

I just received notice of an important schedule change:

The July 4-5 weekend event has been canceled, but the August and September events will continue.

Quote
After careful consideration, the Dragon Moon Festival Committee has decided to cancel the July Dragon Moon Festival. We've realized that even with your generous support our target audience of families and those interested in food, culture and entertainment have fewer resources this year and we are shifting our plans to align with the economic realities of Oregonians this summer. For us that means we should not compete with other city wide events including local back yard parties and the Waterfront Blues Festival held during the celebratory July 4th holiday.

To this end – our next Dragon Moon Festival will be on August 1st and 2nd. By doing so, we will be able to position the festival for greater success. We'll see you in August!

By focusing on the August weekend we can hopefully put on the strongest impression by having our artists and cosplayers there for that weekend.

No, it was just that the attendance wasn't strong enough to sustain the participation of vendors and others over 3 or 4 events.

Post by: Hazuza on July 25, 2009, 01:17:49 am
It's really sad though :/ They only had one event, and then when they canceled the others, they waited so long to do so. It must've been a real let-down for people planning to perform or sell o_< I know it was for me.
Title: Re: Dragon Moon Festival -Planning of Costumes-
Post by: JeffT on July 25, 2009, 01:21:36 am
I think it was a last-minute decision, cause they were sending me schedules just a few days before. I'm sure they were really trying to make it work and I know they invested a lot of effort into it. (I waited until they posted the cancellation on their site before posting it here, though it was several days before that that they told their vendors.) Maybe a single event would be best in the future (like they had done in the past), so everyone plans to attend at the same time.
