the first episode i ever saw of pokemon was jesse and james crossdressing ... which is what kinda drew me in, lol.
Well, now I have to know which episode that was. I think it's a shame they don't do it as often any more.
Anyway, my first anime was Flying House.

And favorite.....hrm..... it is constantly changing

I watched the Lensman movie in a theater in Yokahama! Just happened to be in Yakusaka on a Navy ship (USS Samuel Gompers) and had a friend that was into anime at the time. :D
Strangely enough, I had recently read the Lensman book series by E.E. Doc Smith a few months before, so even though it was all Japanese with no subtitles we followed the movie with no problem. At the time the computer graphics were state of the art. It's still a great movie, just need to find it on DVD so I can own it.
-
Man, that is difficult. I'll have to go with "Please Twins", but being the adopted "red-headed step-child" kinda gives me some insight into Miku's character.
-
My first anime and forever favorite was SAILOR MOON!!! Then later along the line I saw Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon, and Tenchi Muyo.
-
i think the first anime i saw and KNEW it was aime...or as people were callng it arround me at the time, japanimation. was sailor moon. but recently i realized a bunch of stuff i watched when i was chibi was anime. like pizza cats, rainbow bright, and a collection of wewstern fairy tales i used to watch all the time.
man i want to cosplay the color kids....
-
how about Speed Racer and Star Blazer in there first run US Syndication
-
Transormers!!! XD XD Saw the movie in theaters...had no concept of the real story really but I understood when Optimus Prime died...poor me cried my little head off...along with the rest of the little kids. ^_^;;
-
im just young enough to have missed those when they were actually on. caught a couple of the reruns and my cousins had tapes and ****.
the version i remember most of transformers was the 3D!!!! one when they were animal robots cause of some bioplanet....reason....and the decepticons were all dinosaurs...mosty.
and i dont think that was even japanese.
-
hehe I have watched alot of speed racer!
go speed racer go speed racer go speed racer go!
-
The first anime I can remember was Voltron but I also watched a bit of transformers and some sailor moon.
-
My first anime when I actually realized a difference between anime (or japanimation) and your every day run of the mill american cartoon was as many others Sailor Moon when it started on Toonami for Cartoon Network. Sailor Moon is what sparked my artistry talents though meager as they may be. I went to Hot Topic regularly to look for the newest Sailor Moon comic book and I would find pictures that I really like and free-hand copied them until I've gotten good enought to draw my own creations. Hands, legs and feet still alude me though...
I'd seen many anime before that of course, only in ingnorance. Stuff like Speed Racer, Transformers, Rainbow Bright, and Thundercats (isn't sure if TC is actually anime, but I hold it up there with it)
Long live Cheetarra!!!
My favorite anime thus far is Rurouni Kenshin, but I enjoy many others nearly as equally.
-
My neighbor Totoro when I was 2 years old. :)
Oh. And favorite anime?
Hm... Nurse Witch Komugi! n__n
I assume that you know the character of Nurse Witch Komugi-chan is also in The Soultaker, right?
The differences in the series' are great though, so that may not be to your taste. Soultaker is a very dark anime.
Transormers!!! XD XD Saw the movie in theaters...had no concept of the real story really but I understood when Optimus Prime died...poor me cried my little head off...along with the rest of the little kids. ^_^;;
Yeah, I cried when Optimus Prime died, too. It was such a shock to me, aswell. I never thought it would happen. Ever.
the version i remember most of transformers was the 3D!!!! one when they were animal robots cause of some bioplanet....reason....and the decepticons were all dinosaurs...mosty.
and i dont think that was even japanese.
That was Beast Wars, and later Beast Machines. It wasn't Japanese, it was made by a company called Mainframe Entertainment. It was entirely CGI, as was Beast Machines. All Mainframe Entertainment ever made was CGI stuff, such as ReBoot (If anyone remembers that at all).
The series, and it's sequal, Beast Machines, both aired in Japan with a Japanese dub. Also, Japan produced Beast Wars II Chou Seimeitai Transformers, which wasn't CGI, but was a cel-animated series. However, it wasn't directly related to Beast Wars, and didn't fit into the same continuity. The only thing they had in common was the name.
Ok, first anime I ever saw was one of the DBZ movies, back in '94. I had Japanese neighbors, and they had a copy of it on tape. I watched in raw, and didn't understand a damn thing. They stopped it frequently and tried to explain the story, but their english wasn't that great (they had two kids, a girl two years older that me, and a boy a year younger, I was watching this with the boy), and the kids father sat in, and explained it to me better. His english was almost perfect. I had wondered why, but he told me he had lived in America before, so, I didn't really think anything of it. They sadly moved away shortly thereafter, but the damage had been done.
I had begun collecting as much as I could, starting off with Robotech tapes, oh how I watched them. I watched and rewatched them. The tapes were eventually watched too much and burnt up inside the VCR. Sadly, after the tapes, I was left anime-less for awhile (Except for watching Teknoman on TV), but eventually ran across Sailor Moon and Dragonball on TV early in the mornings, I think it was on what is now known as KPTV, back then it was entirely different though. To watch it I either had to wake up early in the morning or stay up all night, then go to school and sleep at school. Sadly the shows got cancelled.
I pretty much consider those shows my first trip into anime. Shortly after watching the Sailor Moon/Dragonball hour, I found out about manga, and it truly began.
Today, I have seen 280 series, movies, specials, and ovas. I have read over 110 series, including long ones (I am currently in the midsts of burning through Hajime no Ippo, currently at 74 volumes, I am at volume 13, I started two days ago). Truely, my life is now ruled by anime and manga. Which is why I am confident in saying that my favorite is Full Metal Alchemist. In all that I have read and watched, FMA continues to remain very unique in that it wonderfully combines comedy with a serious plot. It does so wonderfully, and the character interactions are amazing. Ed and Al really do come off as related, because the material is very believeable. In all that I have watched and read, I have never laughed and cried as much as with FMA. No matter what the medium, be it anime, manga, or video games, I enjoy FMA. Truely and completely enjoy it.
I'll end this hear because this is far too long, already, and I went into a huge rant.....again. See what happens when I get going? :D
-
My first anime was YuYuHakusho ^_^
-
Mine was sailor moon i saw it at a friends house
-
i noticed in my post i didn't say unicon was my first anime, to the magic island and back
i just saw it again a few weeks ago still just as good
-
DBZ
-
All Mainframe Entertainment ever made was CGI stuff, such as ReBoot (If anyone remembers that at all).
I remember ReBoot!! Good show, I still imagine little people running around inside my computer making things run like they should and having their game battles when my comp starts acting funny or loading really really slowly.... I know, I know, I'm a freak.
-
My first anime was Ranma 1/2, in Chinese. I was 4 so I didn't remember much of it until I saw it again when I was about 13 and the one thing that made me remember that I've seen it was the boobies, lol.
-
First: Dragonball Z... It's sorta corny and all, but I still like it alot, even if it's just for the fact that it was the first anime I was really into (and what got me into the genre.)
Favorite: Need I say ANYTHING? Anyone who's anyone should know what my favorite anime is... Neon Genesis Evangelion. Greatest series ever, anime/non-anime.
-
Teeeeeeeeechnically, my first was Sailor Moon, but only a few times over a long span of time. But the first one I actually got into was Digimon. I didn't want to get into it, because everyone watched Pokemon and DBZ, but since we didn't have the WB, I watched it and was instantly hooked. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm still an avid fan today. Hehehehe. :3
Picking a favorite is incredibly hard. Three years ago it was still Digimon, two years ago it was Evangelion, at the beginning of last year it was Fullmetal Alchemist, during the summer it was Bleach, and in the fall it was Honey & Clover. I really, really, really am not able to choose. u________u
-
Card Captor Sakura! When I was in the fourth grade non the less! I always wanted to be just like shoaran, unfortunately I dont have a lasin board or lightnight charms that shoot out of a sword.... :(
Soon after I was hooked on of course Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yuugi, Tenchi Muyo. Yeah Im a sap for a romantic anime ^-^
-
My first anime?
Hello Kitty and/or Pokemon when I was around four.
My favorite anime? Kodomo no Omocha.
Watashi wa Ultra Relax! Sutekini watakini deluxe!
-
My first one was Rainbow Brite. My current favorites are Hellsing, Full Metal Alchemist, and Gantz.
-
Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon.
My first movie was the first Tenchi movie. I never knew what it was. And then I saw Akira and I knew that other movie (Tenchi) was anime. That... freaks me out to this day. It was that kangaroo guy that freaked the hell out of me. BUt it inspired me to write sci-fy/horror series so that's a good sign, right?
Akira was the one movie I could scare the **** out of my friends with. Good times. I kept telling them that if they took drugs they'ed swell up and look like what Tetsuo looked like at the end of the movie. Oh, they bought Nozima and stayed away from any kind of drug after that movie. Hahaha.
-
Favorite: Need I say ANYTHING? Anyone who's anyone should know what my favorite anime is... Neon Genesis Evangelion. Greatest series ever, anime/non-anime.
YES!!! ~coughs~
Anyhoo...Eva was my gateway anime, but technically not my first. My first was this weird Peter Pan anime...It's kinda like a summarized spoof and Captain Hook it about two feet tall. O_O Richard Cox is the voice of one of Wendy's bros...
Then it was Pokemon, cardcaptors [two episode...I didn't really like it.] digimon [first season only] and...I think that was it until I got into Eva, DBZ, Slayers and El Hazard...^_^ me likes that stuff still...all of it.
-
Sometime between my birth and five years old I read Nausicaa and loved it. I still love Miyazaki stuff to this day.

(replying to old topics is fun? O.o)
I didn't watch tv much..
The first anime I ever saw...was some really really bloody anime that looked like Armitage. XDD
I didn't even know it was called anime until i was in the 4th grade. But after I saw that one really bloody thing, I basicly hated anime. (except I watched Pokemon and Digimon which I didn't know was anime either XP) However once I learned it was called anime I started seeing more of it and got into it and stuff. I then started reading manga in 5th grade. My first manga was either Gravitation or Hellsing. XD
My favorite anime is Yuugiou. It holds so many memories. =\ (it's also how I ended up getting into yaoi XD)
-
Mine was sailormoon methinks, then i watched db/dbz for a spell... but the first anime movie i watched was... project a-ko because my friend was do you like x? i was... uh no. good this doesn't have it! how about z? oh yeah z is the best! awesome this has like 2 sweet scenes of it. kind of thing... i still haven't rewatched it to understand what happened.

First Trigun, then Evangelion as a true gateway.
Favorite: Probably Serial Experiments Lain followed by Evangelion.
-
First anime before I knew it was anime: Star Blazers
Return to anime series: Gatekeepers
-
Unico and the Island of Magic.
Unico rocks!
Favorite anime would probably be Now and Then, Here and There.
Nyco
Yay! Someone else who's watched it! *cries tears of joy*
Anyway!^^; Well my first conscious anime and first real obsession was Sailor Moon^^; followed by Princess Mononoke and then all the random anime on Toonami, Adult Swim, WB, Fox....^^;
My favorite....I can't pick just one... Now and Then, Here and There would definitely be on that list though, as well as Gundam Wing, and Megami Kouhousei (Candidate for Goddess), Kyou Kara Maoh, and recently I've gotten into Record of Lodoss War...^^ There's also X and Aquarian age.....
Ack....see there I go again...>.< Too many! Too many! Stopping now!

(replying to old topics is fun? O.o)
Just so long as there isn't a 6 or something month difference between your post and the last post and you give a good reply that contributes instead of only saying "LOL", you should be fine. ^_^

Mine was a christian anime that wasn't very popular, because it was only on the christian networks: Super Book.
My favorite is Blue Seed, closely followed by Slayers and Ranma 1/2.
