I'll probably do Sailor Neptune during the charity auction again, but I'm also thinking about Sailor Pluto in her lab coat (SETSUNA!!!).  We've been lacking one for too long!

Awesome!  Kinda...  That Luna cosplay looked cute on you, but Cosmic would be a sweet choice, too.  Are you thinking about bringing back the old avatar?


As for me, I'm thinking that Sailor Mantune will be worn only on Monday; I'm still open to possibly doing Setsuna in her labcoat form, maybe...

Mmk. I can't say for sure I'll have a table though. If not I'm still going as a Bday present so no matter what I'll be there..WE are just really hoping for that table..

Yay Mantune won't be alone!  So When asking what prop I should bring along for my Mistress 9 Cosplay It came out in a tie for all three suggestions, the broach and Crystal I can buy But I can't buy the Holy Grail does anyone have any Ideas or tips on how to make something like the manga version of the holy grail?

I know I could make it out of clay and such but my real issue is the clear top. I'm unsure of how I would do that...any help is much appreciated. ^^;

Tranny, about your holy grail thing. you can make it all out of clay then use clear actylic and heat form it to fit around the top.

OMG USE A HALF BALL LARGE CHRISTMAS ORDAMENT

seriously best time of year for that there are large ones already in halves to make it easyer to deco rate

Honestly, that would be a bit fragile. Those aren't that thick, whereas acrylic isn't gonna shatter on you..Still a good idea though..Plus it won't be transparent like it's suppose to..

Also, Tranny, on the topic of that. if you want, you can get a light for the inside of it..Go to a hardware store and tell them what you are doing and they can help you get one that will work. You want ont that takes those small flat batteries, and has a turnable switch (I have them in my FFVII Materia) then you can make it hollow and put the light in it and turn it on for pictures. It will be able to be seen through the top. Just a thought. I can give you a rough tutorial over PM if you want..

On to my update. I have just asked on coscom about making a Sailor V cosplay looking for help, so I will for sure be making it now.

Lol... Well I think u could pull off Cosplay Fish eye because she does look a lot like girl. I actually thought she was a girl the whole time till I watched it in it's original Japanese dub with English sub I found out it was a dude cross dressing :P

Lol I'm with you Jeimi. I'm the same, I wanna cosplay Ann super bad but I've got different costumes that take more priority right now ^^; and Abe I've added you as Tigers eye.  :)

Also since our my groups Queen beryl wont be able to make it this year and our Black lady is having costume malfunctions. The queens of Darkness will be held off for another year or so however me and my partner are still doing Sailor Neptune and Uranus. :)

If everything turns out right as well I'll be bringing a very special Cosplay with me.  Mermaid Michiru. And along with me will be my Pirate Haruka. Ill be buying the tail hopefully soon and it is swimmable. ;) I'm super excited because this is a cosplay I've always wanted to do.

Yea, I guess I'll just have to see. Kumori and Aki are my big female cosplay cons so..Right now I only have Lolita stuff, and a few things for a Jessie (pokemon black&white version) cosplay..At least this year I should have a few, then aki con I'll have more, so I may be able to squeeze Ann into the mix next year..

No offense, but I think that is because you were raised differently than I was.  You also didn't grow up as a boy who had no male role-model until his teen years.  I am what my son will see as the ideal man, at least in his early years in life.  I'd like to keep it that way, and in a positively-effective way.  Once he sees what the differences are between a man and not a man, I think it would be okay to "play pretend" around him.


As for the topic of the thread... I may have a problem.  I can't find one of my gloves or the choker.  I'm sure that it's somewhere in my apartment, but it's location is a mystery.

So my Sailor Uranus has her cosplay all finished now shes just waiting for her Tiara to come in the mail. And Mine will be finished as soon as I order my outfit next month. I want to give myself a little more time before ordering it so I can work on my weight loss. Tho I may drag the limit out longer possibly into July. Since the only reason I'd order it in may is to where it to the world beat festival this year xp. But Fem ash will do.

I got them from Catzia but it wasn't really the shoes fault as it was my own because I already had mangled feet beforehand from going to hawaii and getting blisters <.< But also my feet are too wide lol so I might get new shoes for her but I think I think they will be just fine as long as I don't wear them for three days straight and thank you for adding me :D

tiara soda can:

make a temp-let with paper and try on in front of mirror. wash out soda can. trace temp-let onto can and cut out carefully with kitchen sheers. wash again. spray paint gold add gem. use spirit gum or sticky tape to keep on forehead.

you could also add a string on for the edges but my attempt didnt work =/

oooh all heels. I remember Kumoricon 2011. I wore heels all 3 days and our hotel was 15 minutes away. not fun. I was unable to walk pretty much the whole 3rd day! In prep wear bandaids! and extra cushioning!  And as for the poking butts remember to be respectful and ask first ^^'

This year might be my very first Kumoricon! (Which is hilarious considering I live a lot closer to Portland and Vancouver than Seattle.)

I am so happy to see so many Sailormoon cosplayers attending! I'm working on Super Sailor Saturn and an improved S Saturn right now, which will both be finished before the summer. If I do get to go (I'll know fairly soon), I'll bring both, and likely the Messiah of Silence (http://firefly.sui-kun.net/cosplay4.html) for when I need a rest from the boots. To get kind of an idea what the Saturns will look like, since I want to wait until I complete the new interchangable leotard to get photos of them, this (http://firefly.sui-kun.net/cosplay3.html) is S Saturn 1.0. Pretty much the big changes that I did to it was replacing the buckling interfacing in the shoulder petals with craft foam (works AMAZINGLY), remade the hip roll so it tapers to the center of the V, fit the collar to the neckline better, and made bust armor using the Sparkle Pipsi Sailor Fuku tutorial method (http://sparklepipsi.deviantart.com/art/Sailor-Fuku-Cosplay-Tutorial-331557052).

It's really great to meet you all! :3 And even if I can't make it this year, I believe I will next year.

But I found a couple pairs that look rather decent (personally I'd request a piece of the same vinyl be glued to the back of the heel to match the boots like they did with some of their pumps, but I'm weird):

Sooo~ This Sunday is when I'll be heading over to the fabric store, or warehouse, to buy fabric for my Super Sailor Pluto, Neptune, and Mercury. I'm not sure if my Mars will be coming with to Kumoricon anymore. BUT if she doesn't go then that's one less fuku I have to do from scratch LOL can you say running out of time? And to top it all off, we're all on diets so I wont really start to sew until middle of June ish. Damn these muffin tops Dx

Meanwhile I think I'm finally making progress on Super Saturn. (Keyword "think".) It's taking a while since the bust armor is being a real pain. @_@; (I am extremely happy with the new base leotard, though!) It's mostly making it so it won't look like my boobs are sagging, I have somewhat strange proportions in that I have a long chest and big bust. Fleece is turning out to not be an ideal lining since it has a tiny bit of stretch in it (thus it'll warp over time), so I'm thinking replacing it with a non-stretch cotton or cotton blend. (It'll be detatchable and zipper up the back.)  At least once this beast is worked out, everything else can be cranked out in little time.

I also just need to do a little nitpick work on Hotaru's Mugen uniform (shorten the blouse a little and put interfacing in the bow) and the Messiah (take in the neck portion since I lost weight there since last year and add length to the wrists).

Alright, my fellow Moonies, I come to ask your humble opinions! I am in the process of opening an Etsy shop for resin cosplay gems/jewelry, and naturally want to have a full complement of Sailor Moon accessories.

Currently, I am torn on what style of beads to use for Jupiter and Venus' hip chains that they wear in the manga. I thought I'd ask other fans what they thought would look best! I made a handy-dandy chart with the three looks I'm trying to choose between:

I think it'd be easier to determine times once the overall schedule comes out.  Does anybody know if there will be a Sailor Moon panel of some sort?  It was kind of a bummer that there wasn't one last year...

@Washougal - I haven't heard anything on a Sailor moon panel this year. Was kinda hoping for one since the manga got re-released and there's talk of a new sailor moon series but alas I've heard nothing.

Times I'm okay on waiting on. And I'm okay with the the spot that's been used the past 2 times, its perfect for our group size and it's away from other people in the background, my only concern is the sun being in everyone's eyes again.  :<

@Kitten - Yeah don't over do yourself I've done that a few times. Feels like I spend more time changing then I do hanging with friends XD But Congratulations on the extra mula~ That's always a good thing! Can't wait to see who you decide on. ^^

It's mainly because of Facebook and my age.


I know this will sound somewhat immature, but there are some members of my family that are unaware of my cross-playing, and I'd prefer to keep it that way.  Some people keep tagging photos of me as Neptune, either Sailor form or casual, knowing good and well of my request.


The other deal, my age, is simply that it's more and more difficult to keep my face clean-shaven well enough to avoid the 5 o'clock shadow look before noon.  This reason is also why I've been thinking about abandoning cross-playing overall, despite there still being some females that I would like to try, such as Lina Inverse from "The Slayers," Washu from "Tenchi Muyo," and Eiko Magami from "Project A-ko".


Oh, and I'm having a hard time finding one of the gloves and the neck-thing, I want to have the outfit modified so that it's a body suit and not a shirt, and I still need to order those shoes through Tranny.  I might still do it, but if I do, it won't be for that often. 


(Though to answer your question, Tomecko, I have thought about Sailor Pluto in her lab coat version and would consider doing ...what's his name?... the alien who played the flute and lived on a space tree).

Alright so as for the photo shoot place do we just want to meet up in the red lion lobby then head to the back area like we did last year again?
Id also like to suggest that if we do do the back area that instead of the pictures being at the bottom of the steps we do them at the top with the sun to our sides like we did at the end this way we can avoid the pain of sun in our eyes?

@Wash - Your reasons do make sense, and are understandable,  but we'd miss you!
I know another crossplayer on here (I forget his forum name, but his name is Derek), who does Chii and got tired of shaving - he said he had more fun as Chii with scruff and no makeup, and thought he looked better overall and was more comfortable.
As for facebook, I remember seeing someone on the forums ask for others not to tag you, so it's pretty inconsiderate of anyone who is tagging you. Anyone who knows you well enough to have you on facebook should be aware of your wishes. Is there a setting where you can ask to review any photo tags before they become public? There should be something along those lines, iirc.
And heck, as for age, I'm pushing 30 and I cosplay Saturn, who at her oldest was maybe 13. If you find it fun, do what you want!

@Tranny - I second your plans for the photshoot. The RL lobby is a good meeting spot, and anything to keep the sun out of our eyes... I wasn't at last year's shoot, but the year before, I had my eyes closed in all the pictures. Or we could all bring cool sunglasses...

@chelsea - You think so, huh?  I can't really say that I'd agree with that myself, but that may be that I prefer crossplayers to try their best to look like the gender that they're portraying rather than are.  ...colored aviators...?

Yep the photo shoot is going to be just Sunday, Well meet in the red lion lobby and then about 10-15 minutes after the meet up time well head to the back area behind the red lion for the shoot. Time still needs to be decided.

I should be able to bring Mars to the photoshoot, but I won't know for sure until my group figures out if it can make it to Kumori and if so when our judging time for the contest is. But I'll plan on being Mars Sunday morning (and probably for the Dating Game/at night.) Hopefully I will find other Moonies for pictures regardless. <3

I've got my Etsy shop open! I give you: ShoujoGems (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ShoujoGems)! Not much selection at the moment, but I have a few Sailor Moon items up - brooches and hip chains. More shall come soon, yes, soooon. But I might have to pause to actually work on cosplays.

My Luna petticoat needs trimming (too long in front, didn't make the cutaway extreme enough), and I'm remaking her pendant and earrings out of resin, rather than Fimo. It snowed 10 inches the night before con and I actually had to have a friend pick me up at one point to get me over a snowbank I couldn't navigate in my stilettos. Sorry for being scarce, I've really gone head-first into getting everything absolutely right. (And I take hilariously long to do everything, yay for being anal-retentive.)

I should hopefully have Super Saturn done this weekend, all I have left to do is the sleeve puffs and guards (argh oh my god) and sew together the glove bands.

Here's a preview! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/Suicune3K/IMG_1510.jpg) The hiproll V will be deeper than that, I moved a couple snaps up after that photo was taken. I am so proud of how the drape of my back bow tails turned out; my sewing mentor showed me how to cut them out on the bias and cut the angle of the ends on the grain, so they just drape beautifully. I'll get a decent photo of it this weekend, I can't take a photo of my own back and hold the camera steady at the same time. XD

Sui Kune- You look awesome! Your bust armor is perfect, and your  pleats are so crisp. Good luck on the sleeve rolls! I've only done regular and Eternal Saturn, so I really haven't had to fight with the standard sleeve rolls. The glove rolls are the bane of my existence, though.

I'm super excited to be her! I haven't seen any one cosplay her at a con, and there aren't very many on deviantart.

@Tomecko - Thank you so much! *blush* The bust armor was a living nightmare and the main reason why it's taken me like five months. XD My sewing mentor had to help me fit it extensively, I have a large bust so if it isn't just right I look like I'm drooping. The glove bands are mostly hard because I insist on both using the same non-stretch cotton sateen as the rest of the fuku, and I stuff them with cotton upholstry braid.

@Chelseahavoc - I can't wait to see you too!!  ;D I'm also bringing the Messiah and Hotaru's Mugen uniform along, so we could potentially do a shoot with all three if you like! The Messiah just takes a little longer to change into since it's a crapton of stuff and requires its own (strapless) bra.

@Nyahaha - Oh wow, I can't wait to see your Cosmos!


Unfortunately I couldn't quite get Super Saturn done this weekend, though I did get the sleeve puffs done and sewn to the bust armor. The god-awful puzzle that is the sheer shoulder guards foiled me, but I got the pattern finalized and the mock-up turned out perfectly. Essentially they're sheer light lavender organza tacos, stuffed with a single layer of stiffer pearly sheer organza for stabilization, and the edge finished with a bias-cut strip of the lavender folded over like bias tape. I also got more of my Messiah purple chiffon, so I'm finally able to add length to the wrist cuffs. (Fabric Depot in Portland is amazing, I was able to special-order the exact chiffon I had originally bought two years ago.)

For when I do my Super Sailor Saturn, I was always planning to find some pink-tinted plastic sheet, and just cut it in an arc, then punch holes and hand-sew it on. I've seen some Super Sailors do that, and it holds its shape really well.

I can relate to that part.  I haven't done a single thing for Neptune this entire weekend (mostly thanks to Chan and this stomach bug I seem to have caught).  I haven't even tried to resize my shoes.

@Chelsea - I've seen some clear and frosted plastic sheets for sale online (a shop called Hobbylinc has good prices), a bit more searching might find me some pink tinted ones. Clear will do in a pinch, though.

@Tomecko - I've heard about that too! I do have some lightweight, thin but sturdy clear PVC vinyl as a backup if my heavier organza doesn't cut it, that I would plan on covering with my lavender organza. It would be heavier than plastic sheeting, but the advantage would be not having to gauge holes in it first to sew.  :) I bet you'll be able to find the plastic in a pink tint, too, there's so many uses for plastic sheets and it seems like they'd put color options like that on the market.

@Chelsea - Ahahaha, I was worried it would eat into your con time! XD I always leave myself free enough at cons to not stress but with just enough panels to have something to do, so I'll have plenty of time. Just a matter of what's convenient for you and finding a photographer if it isn't during the official shoot.  :)

AH!~ 18 DAYS!

I still got to fix my Neptune pumps and gloves. Anyone have a clue how to shorten the bought gloves? I have an Idea but wanted to know if anyone else had some suggestions.

Shorten the fingers, or shorten the arms? For the arms, it shouldn't be too hard - the stretch fabric won't fray, so just trim and fold under. Use a zigzag stitch when you sew the edge down, it'll allow for the fabric to stretch without snapping the thread. Or you can sew it loosely by hand.
Your gloves came with the rolls, right? If you pull out the stitches so the rolls come off nice and clean, you can hand-sew those on over the new seam on the arm.

After five months of nitpicking and hair-pulling, Super Sailor Saturn is finally done! I'll obviously be a lot less ruffled when all put together (and ironed!), but a complete try-on at last. XD

I really really really hate Super Senshi sleeves. Those suckers took me at least a few weeks alone just to get perfect. I'm still finding myself nitpicking at asymmetry I'm probably imagining, but they're in and not puckering, so I'm leaving it alone. XD

The choker star is only attached with a clasp type pin backing (to make it easily interchangeable with S Saturn), so I'm still perfecting how to keep it from rotating during wear. (Currently it's a small circle of purple felt put between the clasp and the back of the choker, which seems to help somewhat.)

Also according to the official Schedule that was released last night the cosplay contest will be at 4pm, 3:30 for seating. I assume thats what most people were waiting to hear. So maybe we can pick a time now.

*blush* Thank you so much Chelsea and Tranny! I have the most amazing sewing mentor who taught me everything, I wouldn't have an ounce of talent without her.

Oh awesome, a Sailormoon panel!! I love it when they're a little later in the day, too, I think I'll change back into Super Saturn for it.  ;D (Usually I can only stay as Saturn for a few hours thanks to my feet hating the boots.) I've been so excited about all the new merchandise and the new musical (have you guys seen the new costumes (http://ch.nicovideo.jp/sailormoon-20th)? I love them, they really appeal to the magpie in me! I really hope they continue and reintroduce Saturn!), so it'll be great to have another outlet in addition to the photoshoot to fangirl over everything.

I've readjusted the neck fit for it, so all that's left for me to do now is add wrist length to the Messiah blouse (there's already a seam hidden under the wrist elastic, so it'll be simple enough, especially with a hot knife) and take about an inch off the hem of the Mugen uniform blouse since I finally realized the proportion is a little off. And after the con I'll make a second bust armor for S Saturn.

I just hope the con weekend isn't too hot. XD Saturn won't be so bad to be in, but the Messiah is a friggin beast of fabric layers and the Mugen uniform is long-sleeved with a wool skirt. I'm also very obviously a redhead, and we just aren't built for heat tolerance.

I'll absolutely be going to the panel as Neptune so I'll see ya there maybe Sui Kune. :) As for the panel it would be cool if we all went then had the photoshoot afterwards though I'd be worried that a photoshoot that late in the day would cause lighting issues. and cant do it right before because I assume a lot of people will be at the cosplay contest.

Yeah that was my fear the Panels at 6:30 and goes till 8 by then I assume it'll start getting/will be dark and that wont make for good photo if everyone's using flash. And the cosplay competition goes from 4:00 - 6:30

How about the morning at around 11 or so? The sun will be high enough it won't be in our eyes as much, it won't be as hot out, and everyone's costumes and makeup will be fresh.  :)

...on a cosplay note: I have found the main body of my cosplay, as well as the gloves; I still have more closet space to look through for the rest of the stuff, and have yet to attempt to adjust the shoes to the right size.  I'd like to do this now, but Chauna and Altair are sleeping, and probably won't wake up until I need to go to work...

I had so much fun, we had such an amazing group! I regret not being able to stay in Super Saturn longer, for some reason my ankles were weaker than normal that day, but this is the most fun I've ever had at a Sailormoon photoshoot! I greatly look forward to going next year and meeting everyone again, especially you Chelsea!  ;D I'll have my standard S Saturn done again by then, so I might even end up bringing both Super and S Saturn since they're really easy to interchange. (Part of why S went under a massive makeover in the first place.) I really need to wear sunscreen and get better boot insoles for the front part of my feet, too. (Can you believe I managed to get sunburned after only that hour of being outside? rofl)
