I wanna wait tables :DSame~
not sure how much money I could chip in though...at the moment I'm sorta broke xP
It's so easy to go to when in Japan.. coming to America and seeing no cosplay-cafes is disappointing. Haha... ;^;'Cause everyone thinks it's weird or perverted or "objectifying women" etcetc
<3 I am trying to think of uniforms atm ><;
Any ideas are cool. =] Especially ideas for food.

You guys have to remember this isn't something that's just gonna start all the sudden. It will probably take a few years to actually find our own shop, and actually be able to afford it. o__o We'll probably need help making the money. D;
I wouldn't worry about when you can work or anything like that just yet.
For now we're just looking for ideas and such. Eventually, we'll be able to get it going and decorate the shop. >u<
Also if you have yet to check out the edited front page, know that we plan to have a meet up Friday, the 27th to discuss ideas.^^
this would be fun if it was a panel at a con or something or a once in a while event.
^ yes at Director Park.
I probably wont be able to go, but have fun and hope you get a lot of planning done ^^
Can't go now...Sorry. Have fun and report back!
nooo teddy!!!Can't go now...Sorry. Have fun and report back!
DITTO!
what is this? I;m kind of confused?
Is it a shop?
A business?
A meet thing?
This could work for me, if I can get busfare for the trip. Um, is the Pioneer Mall the one nearby Pioneer Square that's a block in sixe and 4 or 5 levels?Yes the Pioneer mall is a block from pioneer square
This thread is relevant to my interests. :)
Also, I have skycap experience and I'm comfortable objectifying myself in a sexy waiter suit. I can wait tables and keep people happy. :D
Well i have a idea for this to be easier to get ideas from everyone! I will make a meet up date as soon as i feel all better and ill bring a few boxes so people can write down there ideas and put them in the boxes and if you have uniform ideas or designs for the cafe you can do it when ever you want and turn them in to me or soryko when the meet up comes around. Nyaa~ :3[/b]
am still in found out am going to be going to college at Le cordon bleu
I'm still willing to be the Coordinator!Being a coordinator makes you part of a family. Mine was a very small family of skycaps(~150ish). I'll share what I discovered from this experience: If you are part of this family, you will be loved...
Just wanted to point that out.
I just discovered I would be able to help with something like this around here during Fall. The Summer is going to leave me too anxious to leave my current stuff. I like making bread while making bread(So I can cosplay while I cosplay...). ;)I'm still willing to be the Coordinator!Being a coordinator makes you part of a family. Violently.
Don't take too many days off and remember to start eating vitamins like Cheetos! <3
@Mew - that's close to the Californian border, isn't it? Well, at least we'll see you at Kumoricon, right?I'm about a 4 hour drive from the border.
If you want some help with ideas you should check out these cafes.
Look at their prices, food, games, maids, and how the building is set-up.
Then set a budget; I'd also recommend that doing something where, during a certain time (lunch, dinner, etc.) You have Cosplay time then you have maid time. Cosplay time is where the workers wear any cosplay or the cafe sets a theme. (Swim suit, Ninja, Teacher, Animal, etc.) and Maid time is where the workers wear the same Maid uniform.
Because if you stick with official uniform image it will help promote your cafe.
Here's a link to ALL of the cafes in Japan.

http://www.royal-t.org/ (This maid cafe is in Cali) since they’ve been here this long they must be doing something right. lol
Here are the rules for all Maid cafes;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOW_87_gNk
1. Do not touch a maid's body
2. No asking for a maid's phone number
3. No asking for a maid's email address
4. Don't infringe on a maid's privacy by asking what time she gets off work
5. Do not stalk or persistently pick up a maid
6. Don't linger outside the cafe waiting for her to come in or go out
7. No harming the employees, guests, or neighbors of this cafe
8. No taking photos of the maids or the interior and exterior of the cafe ( They charge $5 for a photo with a maid)
9. Don't bring outside food or drink into the cafe
10. No smoking on the stairs outside the cafe

But really it's a lot of work. I tried doing one myself, but it was going to cost around $20,000 just to start. So you’re going to need a huge team, lol. I think the best thing to do is ask a cafe, bakery, etc. and see if you can team up with them and do a Maid cafe event, just to get a feel of how your team will be and how much you can take. Because opening a place is a HUGE thing to do, and takes months even years to get ready. I really wish you luck ^_^ because I would love to see this happen, I would even drive there and work. Portland, OR needs a place like this and I think it will be a lot of fun.

I just cant see why we cant have an age limit for rules to set, and the bodygaurds can do id cheaks so the really old pervy men get no warning
Thats a good point-Yep, or you can do both if the team is willing. You can do early in the day Cosplay; Anything goes the workers pick/ make their costume. Then for later in the day your designed/theme Maid uniforms.
for uniforms we could come up with our own themes and it is a cosplay cafe-
so maidy- wairtressy versions work too.
I love that idea BangBang :DThanks ^-^ lol I got the idea from the oldest and longest running Maid cafe in Japan. But the name escapes me XP lol In an interview he was talking about the cosplay and maid times and he said it brings in more people because they never know what to expect. I would also recommend longer hours, having a place open for the late night crowd will help bring money in.
i have a quick question... do the maids really have to call the guys "master" and the girls "mistress"?お帰りなさいませお嬢様~! <3
Wait a sec, I think I missed something; there's a meet-up scheduled? When & where, por favor?Check the page before this. It's in pink I think.
The first page? I saw nothing there.No. Page 17.
Send me notes?ill give you the notes im gonna take as well wash.
Okz ^_^

Sorry but this seems to be failing D;
This would be great! Unfortunately, we've seen this start and just.. Not take off.

Do I have to open up a cafe first to get your butler services? xD
The Star Trek and Star wars cosplay. It wouldn't really be treating directly to the main customers of a cosplay cafe, but I am in no way saying it could never happen, maybe an event night or something if there's enough demand.
Yes it would be a business, as the original thread had said.
And to finalmonk, I think running on non profit could be extremely difficult, especially if they're paying/donating for it to start up, and it could fail. I've been told to seek sponsorship from places such as FUNimation or other otaku-related companies that could take an interest in the advertisement.
