Title: I Need A New Anime To Watch
Post by: Syd-chan on August 06, 2007, 01:12:13 pm
Ok, I've only seen, like three animes and I want to expand my horizon, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions! I've seen Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon, and Inuyasha. I don't really care if it's a dub or sub....

I'd heard some things about naruto, bt I've heard that it has a lot of filler episodes....I'm looking into that after I watch some short anime series[Naruto has a little over 200].

So, please, any suggestions are welcome!

Syd, can you be a little more specific about what you're interested in?  I'm sure I could help you out, since I've seen probably 110 anime series and maybe 30 feature films over the last couple years.

Well then, I'd recommend you do what I did, and surf the reviews at ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review), and try renting the highest rated shows in a variety of genres.

oo i recomend Karin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karin_%28manga%29

its about a girl who is a member of a family of vampires but can go out in the day but instead of drinking blood she bites them and injects blood into them, and if she dosent she has the most massive nose bleed

Here's another very good rating and review list (http://www.themanime.org/reviewlist.php?list=rating).  I linked to the page where all reviews are sorted by ranking.  Basically anything five or four stars is a sure bet to be quality.  Read the individual reviews to see if the show sounds like something you'd be interested in.  And while I'm on the subject, I should put in a plug for what is, in my opinion, the best anime series ever, Haibane Renmei (http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=785).

Ooh, I got volume 4 of Chibi Vampire. I like it. It's the manga to Karin.

Also watch ones that everyone has watched so you aren't so much in the dark when they make anime specific references. Chi.

I'm a huge anime fan, but mainly watch animes that involve romance and as little fanservice as possible. I honestly don't know what your preference is, but a few of my recommendations would be Saint Tail, Magical Play, Mao-Chan, etc.

First I have to recommend Kino's Journey.  It's just 13 episodes long (sadly) and it seems to be one of those anime that people either never heard of, only heard the title of, or absolutely love it.

Nadesico is another fun one.  It takes place in the future, humans can now travel to Mars, and aliens are attacking from a distant planet.  Sort of an action/comedy.

I'm trying to think of anything relatively recent... "Hare + Guu" comes to mind and I hear it's pretty good.  It's a comedy but that's all I know.  Does anyone know about this?

I officially don't trust that site now. They gave Haibane Renmei more stars than Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey.) Blasphemy!

Anyways I'd first of all recommend my three favorite anime ever, Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey), Mushishi, and Haibane Renmei. <333333333333 Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ouran High School Host Club, and Cowboy Bebop are all really fun to watch. Another one of my favorites is Matantei Loki Ragnarok (Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok.) Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, and Maison Ikkoku are all rather long, but Mushishi, Ouran High School Host Club, Cowboy Bebop, and Matantei Loki Ragnarok are all 26 episodes long. Kino no Tabi and Haibane Renmei are 13 episodes long. (I want more Kino... ;-; )

Oh, and I'd also recommend R.O.D. the TV. That's an awesome, and EXTREMELY addicting series.

I recomend Air Gear! It's one of my favorites. Let's see. I'll give you this:

http://www.fourfingersamuraitheater.wetpaint.com

It's got a number of animes with subs that you can watch right off the site. It also has Air Gear so check it out. From their site I recomend Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Code Geass.

Bleach is another popular anime.

Enjoy!

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Lucky Star
Utawarerumono
Samurai 7
Samurai Champloo (if you haven't seen that yet)

This list can go on and on.
