Ummm, we would be looking at 10 hours in transit to and from this place.

If it is in fact going to be there, uh, count me out. The pros do not outweigh the cons in this case.

No worries, I just don't want the rumor ball to start rolling and get outta my grasp.

Better to crush the dreams of innocent children when they are still seedlings.

I'm not stating anything officially, but honestly...

This late in the game, we probably wont be able to have a full on K-lite. Which is why we have
wanted to have several little events that people can go to.. I'm not willing to put the kaibosh on
K-lite completely... but coming up with the ammount of volunteers, the scheduling of programming
and the dates... I would really need to have had a viable option appear mid-february at the latest...
there is a lot of communication, rules and regulation hashing and logistics that goes into even a
day con...

But, I will certainly keep the option alive, be it for this year or next year. There is no reason NOT to
have K-lite in a place far from Portland... to diversify the locales... but, I would have to hear support
for it.

Thats all I have to say on that, I am still intently watching this thread... and crossing my fingers... you
never know!

It's basically a tiny, tiny convention for a day... Or kind of like a big, day-long anime club.

... Or kind of like the last day of mewcon, minus the vendors and big panels.

... Then again I don't think we've had /any/ panels at K-lite except that year it was around halloween, but I don't think that was even called Lite? O-o

That's neat. Does it cost anything? Do you know when it is?

K-lite is a free or low costs mini-convention we hold in orbit of the main convention.

We normally would prefer it be completely free to guests, however there is always potential
for some small costs to arise that need to be offset. But attendance should never be anywhere
as much as the main convention!

However, this means we have to have a place that is willing to host us at NO CHARGE (think
school facilities with Anime Clubs on premises willing to "host" K-lite)

Each year it is harder and hard to find these kind of facilities and realistically, in order for us to host
a mini-convention like this, I (or the Facilities Liaison of that year) need to find a venue before March.
Any later than that and planning and preparation becomes a muddled mess, and the event may be
able to be run but trust me, it wont be as fun as a well planned and executed party!

Right now I have NO PLANS for a K-Lite this year because I just wasn't able to find an Anime Club that would offer their space to me or ask me to help them get the mini-con approved by their school.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: This is kinda my thing. I'm really good at convincing corporations, venues, facilities, schools, groups, parents what have you to do things I want them to do. I know the proper channels and I know the documentation. If you are a member of an Anime club who in the future would WANT to have K-Lite hosted at your school but are unsure of the process or incapable of taking the reigns yourself PLEASE e-mail me. I can help! Our lifeblood is those Otaku of the school age, from High School to College and supporting the local Anime Clubs is a BIG priority for me. If you need help STARTING an Anime club at your school, contact me on that as well, there are many ways to get a Japanese culture club running in a school that requires educational value for all clubs!

I know it's kind of late for this, but for next year, I could look into possibly having one at Clark College...
